On May 26, 2026, Georgia Power announced that Beth Lowry has been elected to the company’s board of directors.
Lowry currently serves as president and CEO of Holder Construction Company. a $10 billion construction services firm founded in 1960 and based in Atlanta. The company is described as a national commercial contractor with offices nationwide. specializing in data centers. aviation. corporate and commercial offices. science and technology buildings. advanced manufacturing. and adaptive reuse.
Lowry’s career with Holder began in 1994, when she joined the company as an intern. Over more than three decades with Holder, she has worked across the organization, holding a variety of leadership positions. In her current role. Beth Lowry provides executive leadership over Holder’s national enterprise with eight offices and current projects in more than 15 states.
Georgia Power framed the decision as a match between Lowry’s construction experience and the company’s growth plans. Kim Greene. chairman. president and CEO of Georgia Power. said Georgia’s economy is growing as businesses choose the state and bring new jobs and revenue through openings and expansions. Greene added that as Georgia Power works to serve that growth—building new power plants and expanding transmission and distribution infrastructure—Lowry’s experience in construction and development will provide value for customers and the company. Greene also said her commitment to the community aligns with Georgia Power’s core values and its mission to be a citizen wherever it serves.
Lowry’s work outside construction also features prominently in the announcement. She serves on multiple community initiatives focused on economic mobility, training and safe working environments for the greater construction workforce. In 2022. she created the Lowry Family Scholarship at Kennesaw State University (KSU). providing an endowed scholarship for freshmen pursuing a degree in construction management. She is also a trustee for the KSU Foundation.
Her board and organizational involvement extends beyond KSU. Lowry currently serves on the boards of the Rotary Club of Atlanta; Georgia Research Alliance; Atlanta Police Foundation; CareerRise; Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School; Georgia Chamber of Commerce; Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce; and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Previous board involvement includes the Latin American Association; Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta; and U.S. Green Building Council, among others.
Lowry holds a degree in building construction from the University of Florida. She is also a member of the University of Florida M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Hall of Fame. Recognition listed in the announcement includes being named by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as a Woman of Influence and being inducted into the YWCA Academy of Women Achievers.

So she just got elected? That seems like it’ll be good for someone’s friends.
Holder Construction does a bunch of those data center jobs right? Sounds like Georgia Power is basically trying to cash in on the whole power demand thing. Hope they don’t jack rates though.
I don’t get why a construction CEO is on a power board… like shouldn’t it be more about utilities and engineers? But then they said growth and jobs and power plants so maybe it’s all connected. Also “citizen wherever it serves” sounds like PR lol.
Georgia’s economy is growing they say, but I bet the average person still sees higher bills. Board picks are always some kind of networking, like she’ll push for more transmission stuff and companies get paid. The article mentions she started as an intern in 1994 which is cool, but it doesn’t mean she understands power outages or reliability or whatever. Kinda feels like “data centers” are the real reason.
