Skrillex drops – Skrillex returned with the surprise release of his new album “SOMA” on Friday, June 5, following a brief heads-up on his official Instagram story earlier in the week. The 13-track set arrives as he expands collaborations worldwide and moves from recent live wo

The first thing fans got wasn’t a countdown or a polished rollout—it was a title and a track list, posted early in the week on Skrillex’s official Instagram story. Then, on Friday, June 5, the electronic music producer hit publish on a full new album: “SOMA.”

The release came with just enough notice to confirm it was real. and then fast enough to feel like a jolt. “SOMA” arrives as a 13-song set. and it leans into the same restless energy Skrillex has built his reputation on: genre-bending motion. loud momentum. and a wide-open willingness to fold in other voices.

In “SOMA. ” Skrillex works with collaborators from around the world. including Anita B Queen. BEAM. Chris Lake. Feid. RHR. Naisha. Nitepunk. and more. A press release says the album “expands on many of the creative partnerships that have emerged throughout Skrillex’s recent releases. live performances. and DJ sets.”.

The timing lands neatly on top of his recent run of public appearances and projects. “SOMA” comes right after Skrillex debuted CONTRA. his new event platform in collaboration with Berlin Atonal. which took place May 30 and 31 at Kraftwerk Berlin. And as the album drops, he’s also in the middle of a packed weekend at Primavera Sound Barcelona.

On Friday, Skrillex rocked the Revolut stage, and Saturday, June 6, he hosts the festival’s CUPRA Pulse stage. The schedule makes the album’s arrival feel less like a standalone moment and more like part of a larger push—new music rolling out while the live machine keeps turning.

For listeners, “SOMA” is available on all the usual online streaming platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify, and it’s topping Spotify playlists. The full album is also available to stream online.

By the time the weekend ends, Skrillex will have turned “surprise release” into something bigger: a rapid handoff from studio to stage, built around collaboration and momentum—right down to the June 5 drop that left fans scrambling for earbuds.

  1. Is this the one where the “SOMA” album is like… a drug thing? Seems weird timing. Also why does every EDM person always have a festival next.

  2. I saw this on Instagram like 2 days ago but I thought it was just a track tease, not a full 13-song album. Now people are saying it’s “topping playlists” so I’m like ok but which song though??

  3. Primavera Sound and all that… so June 5 drop then June 6 host a stage, that’s honestly kinda wild schedule. Also I don’t even know who half those collaborators are (Anita B Queen? BEAM?) but I’ll probably check it because Spotify keeps shoving his stuff anyway. Still, “Skrillex returned” feels like he never left, lol.
