When an old clip from A.N.T Farm’s The Sit and Chat podcast resurfaced, it didn’t just stir up old headlines—it sparked a fresh wave of anger from Off Campus fans.

Mika Abdalla had announced this week that she and Jake Short called off their engagement after five years together, and the breakup quickly got tangled in a viral moment from the past. In the resurfaced video, Jake was asked to describe Mika—and he responded by calling her “some b**ch.”

His co-host, Bradley Steven Perry, and Bradley’s wife, Natasha Bure, appeared shocked after Jake said it, sitting in silence for a few moments right after the remark.

The tension in the clip didn’t stop there. Later on, when Mika asked for Jake’s extra shirt because she was cold, he refused to give it to her. The refusal continued even after their friends demanded he hand it over, and the scene landed with a hard edge for viewers watching it online now.

Off Campus fans were quick to react once the video went viral. Many blasted Jake on social media, using words like “toxic” and “nasty.” But Mika did not jump into the online pile to echo those comments. Instead, she and Jake chose to address the controversy together.

On Friday, Mika Abdalla and Jake Short issued a joint statement to Us Weekly. They said: “We’ve seen a conversation around clips of us together when we were in a relationship, and people making harmful and inaccurate assumptions about our dynamic.”

They added that they “were in a loving, respectful relationship for five years” and that it is “hurtful to see playful moments dissected in a way that does not reflect the respect and love we had and still have for each other.”

Even with that framing, the “joke” involving Jake calling Mika “some b**ch” became the moment most viewers couldn’t shrug off. Jake, for his part, moved past the statement and directly addressed the specific line.

Also on Friday, Jake took to Instagram Stories to acknowledge how rude his comment was. He wrote: “I made a disrespectful, juvenile joke in a clip that recirculated this week. It’s imperative to me that I take accountability as I am aware that it was inappropriate. It’s not representative of who I am or who I was in my relationship. but I continue to learn from this situation and work to show people the respect they deserve.”.

The story playing out around a viral clip has clearly struck a nerve with fans—but this time. Jake’s response is the clearest sign he recognizes the impact. Mika and Jake may be moving on from their engagement. but the message they’re sending now is unmistakable: playful doesn’t mean permission to be hurtful.
