Michael Gledhill, 44, was booked for one count of murder in the stabbing death of James Handy, 81, after Los Angeles police responded to a call of unknown trouble in Tarzana.
A man flagged down Los Angeles police at the scene where an 81-year-old actor lay in the front yard, unconscious and bleeding from a stab wound to his chest. Minutes later, the person who led officers to him was arrested.
Michael Gledhill, 44, was booked on suspicion of one count of murder, the Los Angeles Police Department said on Thursday. Police say officers responded to a radio call of “unknown trouble” in the 19200 block of Erwin Street in Tarzana, Los Angeles, around 9.30 a.m. on Wednesday.
The call came after a 911 caller said, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.” When officers arrived, they found James Handy, 81, in the front yard “unconscious and suffering from a stab wound to his chest.” Police say Handy was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
Gledhill, who police said lives at the home with his mother, had flagged down responding officers. He told them that he “was the one they were looking for.” After that, he was arrested and transported to Van Nuys Jail. His bail was set at $2 million.
Handy was known for films including Arachnophobia, Jumanji and Top Gun: Maverick.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional details were not immediately provided.

I don’t get how he just walks up and says “I’m the one you’re looking for” and then it’s murder. Like… did he confess right there? $2 million bail too, that’s crazy.
The 911 thing sounds like some movie quote, I’m not even sure it’s real. “son of man” like… is that religious? Idk I feel like they’re making it weirder than it is. Also Tarzana sounds like a rich area so this seems out of place.
Handy is the actor, right? Arachnophobia guy? I swear I heard something about this on social media and people were saying it was a home invasion or something, but now it’s the girlfriend’s kid? BAIL $2 MILLION just seems high for a stabbing, unless it’s super brutal or they got a bunch of evidence. Hope they find out what happened because the “unknown trouble” radio call sounds like they were clueless.
