Hodgkinson hits 51.14 in Rome 400m debut

Keely Hodgkinson claimed a personal best as she finished seventh on her women’s 400m Diamond League debut in Rome. The Paris gold medallist is looking to smash Jarmila Kratochvilova’s near-43-year-old women’s outdoor 800m record this summer and made further progress on her 400m speed, coming home with a time of 51.14 in a race won by Henriette Jaeger.   1. I swear athletes always say they’re gonna “dominate” and then it’s like injuries or something. Also seventh place?? people acting like it’s a win.

  2. Wait Henriette Jaeger won the race but Amber Anning was 5th and still it says Hodgkinson behind her like that’s the main story. Confusing. But 800m record chase this summer sounds wild, she should just break the 100m record too while she’s at it.

  3. Noah Lyles 9.88?? That’s insane. Meanwhile Keely is talking about 800m world record like it’s guaranteed, but then she gets 7th in Rome’s 400. I don’t get the hype honestly—maybe the track was slow or something? Also Molly Caudery pole vault 4.80m… I feel like I could never, my brain can’t even picture that height.
