Cameron Chung’s photo didn’t look like a typical contest entry. His parents say it captured a quiet turning point at home—a “first true smile” that arrived after months of exhaustion—and now it’s the moment Gerber is putting front and center.
The iconic baby food company announced that Cameron. described as a “cheerful. giggly baby. ” has been crowned winner of its 2026 Gerber Photo Search: Behind the Baby. Gerber said it followed a nationwide search that drew in thousands of heartwarming entries focused on “messy. magical. everyday moments of parenthood.”.
In the winning submission, Gerber said the photo was taken during a quiet moment at home. Cameron’s parents described it as a turning point as they became parents. Gerber also highlighted a second snapshot from the same winning photo collection: Cameron’s “first intentional smile following a family walk during a cold winter in Minnesota.” The brand said Cameron’s “contagious smile and his family’s story secured his place in the brand’s storied legacy of iconic Gerber babies. ” and it called this year’s contest about more than babies.
Gerber framed the campaign as a celebration of the parents behind them, saying the winning image embodied that theme and was “more than just a portrait of a happy baby.” The company added that the image reflects the unseen dedication and everyday realities of navigating early parenting years.
Rachael Olsen, Cameron’s mom, said the path to that smile was anything but easy. In a statement, she described navigating “a colicky newborn and a challenging postpartum experience” as “incredibly tough,” adding that many mothers and parents quietly share the same reality.
“But seeing Cameron’s first true smile break through on that cold Minnesota day was pure magic. It erased the exhaustion of those early months and reminded us that his joy makes every single challenge worth it,” Olsen said.
Cameron’s father. Alden Chung. called the win “a dream come true.” In his statement. Alden said they’re excited to share Cameron’s smile with the world and remind families that there’s joy in everyday moments of parenthood. He also said being part of the legacy that understands the importance of celebrating both children and the parents who raise them is meaningful to their family.
After Gerber’s announcement, the company said Cameron will support the brand as the 2026 Gerber Baby. Cameron, along with his parents, will be featured on Gerber’s social media channels and in marketing campaigns throughout the year.

The prize comes with big numbers: Cameron and his family will receive a $50,000 winning prize and a special Gerber Childrenswear “Grow With Us” wardrobe valued at $2,000.
Gerber also named another winner in a separate category, expanding the spotlight beyond its main contest. Jolene “Joey” Rider. 3. of California. along with her parents Eileen and Joe Rider. were crowned the first-ever winner of the Get’ems!. from Gerber award. Gerber said the new category is for children ages 3 to 5.
For that win, the toddler and her family will receive a $10,000 prize and a wardrobe valued at $500 from Gerber Childrenswear.
