Off Campus’ Antonio Cipriano Defends Logan Book Changes

Antonio Cipriano says Off Campus gave writers freedom to reshape Elle Kennedy’s POV-driven stories—delivering Logan’s journey with new beats, including a key Hannah moment that swaps characters from the book.
When Off Campus arrived on Prime Video in May. it didn’t just bring Elle Kennedy’s Briar U romance to life—it also started quietly rewriting some of the book’s most recognizable turns. Antonio Cipriano, who plays Logan, is now weighing in on the changes, including the kind that can make fans bristle.
Cipriano told Us Weekly in May that what excites him most about the adaptation is the range the writers were given. “What’s so great about the show and the adaptation is that all the writers had so much freedom to add so much more to these characters.” He added that Kennedy’s books are driven by point of view—“between whoever is in their love story”—which. in his view. left plenty of room for the show to “play with.” For viewers. he said. it means you’re “rooting for all of these characters.”.
That creative freedom is especially important for Logan’s arc, Cipriano said. He explained that the series expands how audiences get to know the character before any romance locks in. “You get to know Logan as a brother. as a teammate and as a best friend before he finds that love. ” he said. “You get to follow him on this arc of finding himself and those days.”.
Now that the show has “met Grace,” Cipriano is looking forward to the next step. “I’m excited for him to get to meet her in the show,” he said—positioning Logan’s attraction and timing as the emotional engine rather than a straight lift from the pages.
Based on the book of the same name by Elle Kennedy. Off Campus follows an elite ice hockey team and the women in their lives. Season 1 centered Hannah (Ella Bright) and Garrett’s (Belmont Cameli) love story. with several key moments from their book. The Deal. swapped for updated versions. At the same time. the series began setting up Allie (Mika Abdalla) and Dean (Stephen Kalyn) as the next possible leads even though they’re featured in the third installment of the series.
Prime Video has since confirmed that Allie and Dean will be moved up, while Logan is expected to be the focus of a third season alongside love interest Grace (India Fowler).
Some of the adaptation decisions could still land differently for fans, Cipriano acknowledged. He specifically addressed one moment involving Hannah kissing a teammate in front of Garrett—while Kennedy’s version presents it with Dean. rather than Logan. “I know that some people are going to be a little upset about that one change,” Cipriano said. “But honestly. for the story that we’re trying to tell and where Logan has that kind of spark with Hannah. it’s only going to feed the story a little bit more for his attraction toward her.”.
He continued, framing the shift as a ripple effect across Logan’s feelings: “How that moment meant nothing to Hannah but everything to Logan.”
Cipriano also connected the show’s broadened family structure to the way Logan is written on screen. He hoped the vision would “come along. ” adding that Logan “appreciates her. and it’s all innocent and all love.” He then pointed to another notable adjustment: “the addition of Jules and making him a middle child.” Cipriano said the change “changes the dynamic completely. ” and he related it directly. “And I’m a middle child myself, so I feel like I knew exactly who this guy was.”.
Off Campus is currently streaming on Prime Video, with Logan’s next chapter—alongside Grace—poised to follow after the series has moved through Hannah and Garrett’s season-defining romance.
