Chalamet ices knees as Knicks stage Finals comeback

Chalamet warns – Timothée Chalamet warned fans about the physical “wear and tear” that comes with playoff runs after the Knicks’ NBA Finals comeback win over the Spurs—while New York’s own stars managed injuries of their own.
Thursday looked like a recovery day in San Antonio and a recovery day for Timothée Chalamet too.
The 30-year-old actor posted on Instagram that people “underestimate the wear and tear on the body of a fan throughout the playoffs,” pairing the message with photos of himself icing his knees. “Self care is important,” he added.
His warning landed after Wednesday night’s Game 1 of the NBA Finals. when the New York Knicks pushed through a brutal second-half hole. They fought back from a 14-point deficit to win and take a 1-0 lead. completing a run that stretched back into a wider postseason trend: New York won its 12th straight postseason game.
For the Knicks, the comeback didn’t come without cost. Point guard Jalen Brunson scored 13 of his 30 points in the key final stretch. doing it after battling knee and ankle issues. Center Mitchell Robinson also carried his own medical history into the night, playing days after surgery on his broken pinkie. Celebrity Knicks fans filled the atmosphere in San Antonio, and Chalamet wasn’t alone. Ben Stiller, Spike Lee, Tracy Morgan and John Turturro all descended for the game. Comedian Shane Gillies was seated near the floor on Wednesday night as well, even if he is not necessarily a New York supporter.
The scene also carried serious NBA weight. Former player and Hall-of-Famer Patrick Ewing was there, along with Spurs-adjacent figures Robert Horry and Manu Ginobili. Retirees James Worthy and Gary Payton were also in attendance.
Above all of it sat Gregg Popovich. The legendary Spurs coach was in a VIP suite, after stepping down from coaching duties to promote assistant Mitch Johnson following Popovich’s 2024 stroke.
Back in New York, the party continued in the streets. Throngs of Knicks fans gathered near Madison Square Garden, spilling out of watch parties inside and outside the arena to celebrate the win.
Game 2 tips off from San Antonio on Friday shortly after 8:30pm EST. The series then returns to New York for Games 3 and 4. President Donald Trump and New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani are expected to be at Madison Square Garden for Monday’s Game 3.
