Andy Ogles blames staffer after homophobic Pride post

Rep. Andy Ogles says his communications staff posted a homophobic message on his official X account during Pride Month and that the employee was reprimanded—while his own profile still carries other anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric. The episode arrives as Republicans acro
For the third time in as many days during Pride Month, Rep. Andy Ogles’ name was tied to a social-media flare-up—this one wrapped in a blunt message aimed at gay Americans and a congressional lawmaker trying to walk it back.
On Tuesday night, Ogles said his office reprimanded a staffer after the staffer posted from Ogles’ official X account earlier that same day. The post said: “Homosexuality has no place in America. Happy Nuclear Family Month.”
In a message on X, Ogles described how the incident unraveled in real time. “Earlier today while working on the farm. my phone began going crazy because of a post made by a member of my comms team. ” he wrote. He added that the post was “stupid. hurtful and a complete distraction from my America First focus. ” and concluded: “The employee has been reprimanded.”.
The damage control is happening in a political environment that has grown increasingly hostile toward LGBTQ+ visibility—even when lawmakers try to shift blame to staff. Ogles’ X account contains a larger trail of extremist rhetoric aimed at multiple minority communities. Even though he deleted the specific attack on gay Americans. posts remain on his profile including claims that “the only antidote to mass rape is mass remigration. ” a reference to a white nationalist concept; accusations that LGBTQ+ youth support groups are participating in “child grooming”; and statements claiming Islam and America are “incompatible.”.
Ogles has also campaigned in opposition to same-sex marriage. And when the Supreme Court overturned the federal right to abortion care, Ogles wrote that the right to marriage for LGBTQ+ individuals was “next.”
Even some Republicans appeared uncomfortable with the content of the anti-Pride post itself. New York Rep. Mike Lawler, who is in a difficult reelection battle, responded to Ogles on X. “Homosexuality exists. In America. In fact Andy, you have family, friends, neighbors, colleagues and constituents who are gay and lesbian,” Lawler wrote. “It doesn’t make them less than or somehow unworthy of being an American. What an absolutely idiotic statement to make.”.
The response from Ogles’ party did not come as an outright defense of LGBTQ+ equality. It came as a warning—one that helped confirm how central anti-LGBTQ+ messaging has become to the broader right’s culture-war agenda. And it didn’t stand alone. Senator Ted Cruz. speaking to TMZ. said “homosexuals have been part of humanity” for “all of recorded history.” Cruz added. “The behavior of consenting adults in their business.”.
The episode lands in Pride Month with a wider. sustained push by Republicans to reframe the holiday around what they call “family” values—and to fight events that celebrate LGBTQ+ people. The governors of Indiana and Tennessee have declared June will be celebrated as “nuclear family month,” instead of Pride month. In Texas. Ken Paxton. a Republican state attorney general and a Senate candidate. kicked off Pride Month by suing the city of Denton for hosting a “Big Gay Swim Day” at a public pool.
California’s fight against Pride visibility is playing out too. In Fresno, the County Board of Supervisors banned public libraries from participating in Pride festivities.
The through-line is stark: when Pride arrives. GOP leaders do not just criticize celebrations—they attempt to restrict how LGBTQ+ Americans are seen in public life. Ogles may be directing attention toward an unnamed staffer and a reprimand. but the message itself was not an accident of tone so much as a reflection of a position he has promoted repeatedly.
For LGBTQ+ Americans, Pride is still a yearly reminder of the struggles endured in the pursuit of equality. This month also functions as a recurring test of how far Republicans will go to reverse progress when they gain power again. Ogles’ post may have been removed and blamed on staff. but it is part of a broader campaign that uses Congress and state government leverage to narrow rights and public recognition for gay Americans.

So his staff did it but it’s still on his page… yeah sure.
I saw something like this on TikTok and everybody was saying he’s “America First” 🙄 but then that post is just gross. If your account has the hate still, how is it even just “a staffer” problem?
Wait I’m confused, he says it’s a staffer and reprimanded, but also he deleted it so is it like… resolved? Or does that mean he wants to pretend it never happened. Also “farm”?? like he was posting while doing chores? I don’t even know.
This dude’s whole vibe is anti-LGBTQ and then he acts surprised when something like this pops up. Reprimanded is not the same as accountability. And if his profile already has that “remigration” stuff and all that grooming nonsense, then it’s not one random mistake. Sounds like PR damage control to me.
