Vanessa Trump didn’t wait for a formal announcement. On Wednesday, May 20, she shared a personal update on Instagram that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer—writing that she recently underwent a procedure and is now working with her doctors on a treatment plan.
“I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids and those closest to me,” Trump wrote. She said she is staying close to her medical team as she begins treatment, thanking her doctors for performing a procedure earlier this week.
“While this isn’t news anyone expects, I’m working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan,” she wrote. “I would like to thank my doctors for performing a procedure earlier this week.”
Trump is 48 and previously worked as a model. She is the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr., and the couple divorced in 2018 after being married for more than a decade. Together, they have five children.
Her family’s circle quickly showed up in the comments. Ivanka Trump responded to the news with: “Praying for your continued strength and a swift recovery. Love you mama.”
The diagnosis comes as Vanessa Trump has drawn renewed public attention in recent months. including her relationship with golfer Tiger Woods. She has been dating Woods since March 2025. Vanessa Trump grew up on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and became a model early in life. In 2003, she met Trump Jr. at a party where Donald Trump introduced himself and his son to her. In the years that followed, the two married in November 2005 at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago.
