USPS reissues Mister Rogers stamp—buy it June 1

USPS reissues – The U.S. Postal Service is bringing back its popular Mister Rogers stamp as a Forever stamp pane of 20, available nationwide and online starting June 1. The reissue follows a Stamp Encore vote tied to America’s 250th anniversary.

For many people, Mister Rogers isn’t just a character from the past—he’s the voice that made the everyday feel steadier. Starting June 1, that feeling will show up in a more modern place: inside the envelope, with a stamp you can buy.

The U.S. Postal Service announced the reissue of its popular Mister Rogers stamp on May 24. The decision is part of USPS’s “Stamp Encore” contest created to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.

This time, Americans had a say. The Mister Rogers stamp was one of 25 former stamp designs selected for a re-issue vote. After more than 500,000 votes were cast, the reissue won by more than 40,000 votes over the next highest contender.

“When we issued the Mister Rogers stamp in 2018, we ordered a print run of some 12 million. That may sound like a lot. but Mister Rogers really took us by surprise. ” Isaac Cronkhite. USPS chief processing and distribution officer and vice president. said in a news release. “Within just a few weeks, the stamps honoring this humble, softspoken man had sold out completely.”.

The original 2018 stamp featured Rogers in an iconic red cardigan, holding his King Friday XIII puppet from his television series, “The Neighborhood of Make-Believe.”

For the reissue, four new stamps were created. The lineup includes Rogers with his Daniel Tiger puppet, Rogers with his X the Owl and Henrietta Pussycat puppets, and Rogers with his neighborhood trolley toy.

USPS says the Mister Rogers stamps will be reissued as Forever stamps in a pane of 20. Forever stamps will always be equal in value to the current First-Class Mail 1-ounce rate, the Postal Service said. As of May 26, the First-Class Mail 1-ounce letter rate is $0.78 at USPS.

Alongside the stamps, USPS is also rolling out specialty Mister Rogers merchandise, including a writing kit, a stamp pin, and a memo pad. Those items will also be available on The Postal Store website on June 1.

The Stamp Encore contest included 24 other stamp designs Americans could vote on. They were: Art of Disney: Magic (2007); Batman (2015); Bioluminescent Life (2018); Bugs Bunny (1997); Charles M. Schulz (2022); Classics Forever (2016); DC Comics Super Heroes (2006); Disney Villains (2017); Emancipation Proclamation (2013); Flag Act (2018); Frozen Treats (2018); Happy Birthday (2021); Have a Ball!. (2017); Heritage Breeds (2021); Let’s Celebrate (2020); Mail a Smile (2015); Message Monsters (2021); Peanuts (2001); Send a Hello (2011); Star Trek (2016); Star Wars: Droids (2021); Total Eclipse of the Sun (2017); Transcontinental Railroad (2019); Wonder Woman (2016).

At least one thing is already clear: when USPS says these stamps sold out quickly in 2018, it wasn’t a minor fluke—it was a sign that people still want to mail something that feels like it cares.
