Sorsby agent hopes NFL won’t bar supplemental draft

By the time Monday’s deadline arrived, Brendan Sorsby’s path to the NFL supplemental draft was already hanging on a thin line: whether the league would simply allow his application or decide it had reason to bar him.
Sorsby remains a quarterback in limbo as the NFL weighs next steps. The general expectation across league circles is that a memo will follow in the coming days—one that lays out the date of the supplemental draft and the players included in the supplemental draft pool. But an open question still hangs over Sorsby’s case: will the NFL reject his application?.
On Monday’s #PFTPM. Sorsby’s agent. Ron Slavin. was asked whether anything suggests the league could decide not to let him in. “I would hope not,” Slavin said. He directed the focus to the NCAA investigation. arguing it ran through “all four years of Brendan’s bets. ” and concluded there was “never integrity of the game violations.”.
Slavin emphasized where the betting took place and when. He said Sorsby’s bets at Indiana were made “from the dorm room, not on the travel roster,” and that “the minute he was on the travel roster, there was never another college football bet ever placed.”
What Slavin believes keeps getting missed in the public conversation is the distinction between betting during the period at issue and betting on games while playing. “What I keep hearing over and over and over is, ‘Oh, can I trust this kid on my roster?. Is he gonna bet on games that he plays in?’” Slavin said. He added that Sorsby had “35 starts in college football. ” and that he “never bet on any games he played in.” Slavin also said Sorsby “never bet on college football once he actually was playing.”.
The agent framed the situation through the lens of age and exposure—18-to-22-year-old decisions that can follow young players into harsher long-term consequences. “I think this was a situation where we’ve created 18-to-22-year old kids. if they’re gonna watch a game. they’re gonna put money on it. ” Slavin said. “And at the time, that’s what he did. But he never did it again.”.
Slavin’s account also leaned into character details meant to counter the suspicion that follows betting headlines. He described Sorsby as “a great kid” who “literally doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke,” and said he “made a mistake at 18,” but has faced intense punishment “four or five years later.”
For now, two questions remain stacked in front of the quarterback. First: whether the NFL will let Sorsby into the supplemental draft. Second: whether he will receive a suspension after he’s drafted.
Because Sorsby is not yet in the NFL Players Association, any attempt to keep him out of the supplemental draft would be vulnerable to a legal challenge in court. If there is a suspension after the draft, Slavin’s remarks make clear that it would be handled under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
So the clock has moved—Monday’s deadline is past—but Sorsby’s future still depends on the league’s next move. For the moment. it’s a wait-and-see moment: whether the NFL will even hold a supplemental draft. and if it does. whether it will allow him in—or require him to wait until April 2027 to enter the NFL.

So basically the NFL will decide if he can play… even though it sounds like he didn’t bet while traveling? idk.
Not gonna lie, anytime I hear “supplemental draft” I assume it’s like a punishment thing. Like why else is he in limbo. Also NCAA investigation for 4 years sounds wild.
If he bet from the dorm, then that’s fine? But isn’t dorm still on campus so it still counts, lol. I’m confused how the NFL can trust him if there was an investigation at all.
NFL’s gonna be petty about it. You can’t just say “there was never integrity violations” like that’s the end of it. The travel roster part sounds like they’re splitting hairs. I feel like he’s either getting barred or they’ll drag it out for weeks and then act surprised.
