For the fifth straight month, Savannah Guthrie has carried her mother’s absence in public—this time with a single image and a simple demand: “Bring her home.”
The “Today” host, 54, posted on Instagram on June 7 about her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, whose disappearance was reported on Feb. 1. Authorities say the 84-year-old was taken from her home in Arizona against her will, and the search is still ongoing.
On her Instagram story, Guthrie shared an image of religious artwork alongside the words: “Oh my, my soul it cries out, soul, it cries out.” Beneath the post, she captioned the photo with the message “Bring her home,” adding a heart emoji.
Guthrie has repeatedly asked the public to come forward with any information that could help authorities find her mother. In February. her family offered a reward of $1 million “for any information that leads us to her recovery.” At the time. Guthrie acknowledged how hard the waiting can be. saying her mom “may already be gone. ” while stressing that “we need to know where she is.”.
The case also has touched other lives beyond the family. Reports from the search described the discovery of nearly 1. 000-year-old human remains after authorities initially stepped away from the “Today” show amid Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. Guthrie later returned to the NBC morning program in early April.
In May, she marked Mother’s Day with another direct appeal of her own. On Instagram, she shared home video footage of Nancy Guthrie and wrote: “Mother, daughter, sister, Nonie − we miss you with every breath. We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you.”
Arizona authorities continue searching for Nancy Guthrie, but there have been no significant developments or breakthroughs in recent weeks. Still, hope has lingered in investigators’ work—especially around DNA processing.
In May. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told People magazine that he believes investigators are “getting closer” to solving the case. “Everyday our DNA labs are working with our investigators and they’re coming up with different ideas and different thoughts of how to help them make this DNA work for us. ” Nanos said. “How can we do more with what we have?. And so that’s why I say it is — I think we’re getting closer.”.
That mix—silence on the outside, steady work behind the scenes—has left Guthrie stuck in the same exhausting loop of waiting, asking, and pleading. With each new post, she keeps the focus fixed where it has been all along: on finding Nancy Guthrie, and bringing her home.
