Pink calls her Broadway delay reason ‘stupid’

Pink’s reason – Ahead of hosting the 2026 Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall on June 7, Pink explained why she hasn’t starred on Broadway—saying it comes down to being deeply attached to her kids. She also recalled turning down the role of Hedwig and praised her 15-year-old

Pink will be front and center at the Tony Awards—hosted at Radio City Music Hall on June 7—but her Broadway story has its own twist. The singer may have never starred on the Great White Way yet, and she’s been honest about why.

In comments to USA Today, Pink said the reason is tied to her family and the rhythm of touring. She shares daughter Willow and son Jameson with husband Carey Hart. “I’m very attached [to] my kids. They come with me on tour, and we travel together. I cannot imagine eight shows a week where I’m not telling them what to do or finding their iPad for them. I mean, it’s a stupid answer, but it is my truth!. It’s a real commitment,” Pink said.

She’s already found Broadway success in a different way. Pink’s songs are part of two hit jukebox shows: & Juliet and Moulin Rouge!

Still. when Broadway came calling for her directly. she said no once—when the opportunity to star in Hedwig and the Angry Inch came up. Pink told the outlet. “I once had the opportunity to be the first female Hedwig. and I should have done it. But it was 10 years ago, and I was probably in Germany on tour.”.

Asked about whether she might play Hedwig in the future, Pink didn’t miss the chance to joke. “Wouldn’t that be amazing? The 80-year-old Hedwig, when my kids are in college.”

Her love of live performance goes back to childhood. Pink recalled that her mother, an ER nurse, would save through the year just to take her to shows. “It was my favorite night with my mom every year. We would go see Phantom of the Opera. Les Mis. La Cage aux Folles… I just love theater and live performance. It definitely shaped what I do as Pink.”.

Now, the next chapter is unfolding with Willow. Pink said her daughter, who is 15, also dreams of performing on Broadway. To support those ambitions, Pink relocated her family to New York so Willow could develop her acting, singing and dancing skills.

Pink’s admiration for Willow is clear. “[Willow is] amazing. She’s more talented than I ever was.” She added that Willow’s school performance stands out too, saying Willow “also gets straight A-pluses, which makes me wonder, ‘Is she my daughter?’”
