A new ransom note in the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping case claims the sender has video and photos showing the 84-year-old mother of Today anchor Savannah Guthrie, including images tied to what the note calls “the day that was probably her last,” and says the passw

A new ransom message landed Friday, June 26, and it didn’t just ask for money—it claimed it could show video of Nancy Guthrie herself.

The Today show anchor’s family has been living with a disappearance that began late at night and stretched into months of uncertainty. Now, the latest letter alleges the presence of footage and images that the sender says could confirm what happened to the 84-year-old woman.

The message was reported by TMZ. which said it received the new note from an individual who had previously been in contact with the outlet. The sender claims they have video of one of the alleged suspects and Guthrie on a phone in a “secure location.” The outlet also said the email and Bitcoin address match information from a person who emailed it weeks into Savannah Guthrie’s mother’s disappearance.

In the letter. the person reportedly claims there are allegedly two people responsible for the kidnapping and that the video shows the “main guy.” The note further alleges the phone contains video showing Guthrie on “the day that was probably her last. ” along with photos of “both involved.” It also says the material includes “names and addresses and age.”.

The sender told TMZ they will reportedly provide the password if they receive payment in Bitcoin. TMZ said it forwarded the email to the FBI and told the person to send a screenshot of Nancy Guthrie in the video to prove authenticity.

The FBI, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, and NBC were contacted for comment.

This new note comes days after NBC News, ABC News, and CBS News reported that an earlier note received early in the case claimed Nancy Guthrie was dead—an assertion that further sharpened the fear in a story already defined by uncertainty.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on the evening of Jan. 31, when a family member dropped her off at her Tucson, Arizona, home after dinner. She was reported missing the next morning, prompting the Pima County Sheriff’s Department to launch an investigation, with the FBI joining days later.

During the following days, purported ransom notes containing alleged details about Nancy Guthrie’s suspected abduction circulated. Savannah Guthrie said in a March NBC interview that she and her family believe two of the notes—specifically the first note, which demanded money—“are real.”

TMZ also said it has not viewed or authenticated the new note.

In the days that follow any fresh demand. the practical stakes are immediate: whether investigators can verify the claims. whether the sender’s references to video and identifying details hold up. and what another possible timeline of “the day that was probably her last” means for a family still waiting for the kind of certainty no note can deliver on its own.
