If you’re in the mood for unsettling and sharp. Paramount+ offers “Slanted. ” a coming-of-age version of “The Substance.” The Chinese-American teen at the center. Shirley Chen. has prom-queen dreams and undergoes a mysterious process that turns her into a white girl (Mckenna Grace). She loves it at first—until it alienates her parents and her face begins to fall apart.

Prime Video brings “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War. ” a political thriller that returns to the story after four years of the “Jack Ryan” TV series. John Krasinski takes Tom Clancy’s literary action hero back to the movies as an ex-CIA operative Jack pulled again into the secret-agent game. He teams up with old friends and works alongside a new MI6 officer. Sienna Miller. to stop a black-ops squad from causing global chaos.

Finally. Hulu has “We Bury the Dead. ” a zombie horror drama that’s more exploration of grief and loss than a gore-heavy spectacle. After Tasmania is devastated by an experimental American weapon that kills half a million people. Ava (Daisy Ridley) volunteers for body-removal duty to find her husband. Then some of the dead come back to life—only not in a good way.
