Missouri AG investigates ESPN analyst after payment claims surface

Missouri AG – Missouri Attorney General investigators are looking into ESPN NFL draft analyst Matt Miller after allegations that people involved with fantasy football and football training programs never received promised payments. The probe is linked to consumer protection
Matt Miller’s public updates about survival and recovery have been shadowed by a new legal cloud—hours into the Missouri attorney general’s active investigation into allegations of unpaid payments.
The Missouri attorney general’s office confirmed a spokesperson that Matt Miller, an ESPN NFL draft analyst, is under investigation. The office said it cannot disclose details because the matter is ongoing. It did, however, point toward consumer protection. In a statement. the attorney general’s office said it encourages consumers who believe they have been misled to contact the office. adding that Attorney General Hanaway takes consumer protection seriously and that the office will work to uncover the facts.
The investigation arrives after Miller faced accusations of past financial improprieties. Those claims surfaced through posts on social media and through reporting by Awful Announcing. Several people alleged they failed to receive payments related to fantasy football leagues. football camps. and scouting lessons in which Miller has been involved.
For many. the timing felt brutal: the allegations emerged shortly after Miller revealed he had his left arm amputated following a traffic accident. After the injuries, a GoFundMe benefiting him was shared to his social media accounts. In the weeks that followed, many users turned to social media to outline the financial improprieties they say Miller committed.
Miller’s family paused donations to the GoFundMe fundraiser as of July 3. Before that pause, the campaign had raised $51,247 toward a goal of $55,000.
As of now, Miller has not addressed the claims. He did not respond to a previous request for comment. ESPN also declined to comment when reached.
The sequence of events carries a stark contrast: an amputation followed by a fundraising effort, and then accusations of unpaid obligations from multiple corners—an overlap that has now pulled the case into an attorney general’s consumer protection orbit.
Miller has not only been tied to ESPN’s coverage; he has also been employed there as an NFL draft analyst full-time since 2022, after previously working for Bleacher Report.
The Missouri attorney general’s office has not laid out what it is investigating specifically, and Miller has not yet responded publicly to the allegations. This article will be updated if more information becomes available.
