Meghan Quinn’s “Christmas Staycation” brings fake romance back

Meghan Quinn is set to publish “Christmas Staycation” on Oct. 20 through Bloom Books, reviving a fan-favorite character from her Kringletown series as she leans into a fake engagement plot and holiday chaos.
Summer may have barely started, but Meghan Quinn is already planning her way to Christmas.
The steamy romance author—known for small-town romances and beachy flings—will return to her Kringletown series for her third year with a new installment titled “Christmas Staycation,” releasing Oct. 20 from Bloom Books.
Quinn is bringing back a fan-favorite character, Taran, and giving her a romance of her own in the book. A cover preview for “Christmas Staycation” was revealed alongside the announcement.
“I knew there was more to her love story than meets the eye, and I wanted a chance to give her a deeper dive and some more layers and laughs with a fake engagement plot,” Quinn said.
The new novel is also pitched as a holiday remix for fans who love the classics. Quinn has compared the energy to “How My Neighbor Stole Christmas” and “Merry Christmas, You Filthy Animal,” borrowing from other holiday favorites in the way her stories riff on familiar themes.
For her latest book. she draws a direct line to “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” and the Griswold family’s relentless attempt to keep the holidays magical—despite everything going wrong. “I grew up loving ‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. ’ and the idea of trying to make the holidays as magical as possible and everything getting in your way. ” Quinn said. “So capturing the vibes of the Griswold family just trying to make it work was a natural fit for this next book.”.
In “Christmas Staycation. ” Taran is polished and careful—and she’s agreed to a fake wedding with her ex to keep the peace with her family during the holiday season. But the tension doesn’t stay contained. Her ex’s brother. Nolan. is a pro baseball player with a “filthy mouth” and “an ego the size of the North Pole. ” and he’s set on waltzing through the holidays in Kringletown.
Nolan also believes Taran deserves more than his brother—and he has a plan for who might be a better match. The setup promises a mix of family drama and holiday hijinks: Can Taran keep up the charade, or will Nolan turn her festive plans into “this charming disaster”?
