Google prepares Rambler toggle as Pixel Studio fades

Rambler voice – A new Gboard beta adds a switch for Google’s upcoming voice-to-text upgrade, “Rambler,” while code hints Pixel Studio is already being phased out. The voice feature is still awaiting a release date, but it’s expected this summer—after Google starts rerouting u

He’s saying the words out loud, and then he keeps talking.

The “ramble” is the point—filler words, false starts, and half-finished thoughts that normally end up pasted into a transcript. Google is trying to change that experience inside Gboard, and the latest beta is already showing the first control you’ll have over it.

At Google I/O 2026, the Mountain View-based company revealed “Rambler,” a voice-to-text feature coming to Gboard. Google didn’t tie it to a firm date, but said it’s due to arrive this summer. The idea is straightforward: Rambler aims to improve voice typing by understanding context and making sense of “rambles.” If you tend to use filler words like “like” or “um. ” it should know to leave them out of the transcription for a cleaner read. It can also recognize when you repeat yourself or attempt to self-correct. keeping only the relevant parts of what you’re trying to say.

The setup is already creeping into the app. In the latest Gboard beta version—17.5.6.917159154-beta-arm64-v8a—Google added a newly visible toggle in the Voice typing settings. In this build, the toggle isn’t available by default. Once you activate it, the toggle lets you enable or disable Rambler at will.

Google’s other move is less about adding something new and more about removing something familiar. Pixel Studio—an AI sticker creation tool—has been on the way out. Google confirmed back in February that it plans to sunset Pixel Studio and direct users of the AI sticker creation tool to Nano Banana in Gemini instead.

In the same Gboard beta digging, the groundwork for that removal appears to be already in place. A reference in the code alludes to plans to end Pixel Studio. and the changes show up in practice: a version of Gboard where the custom sticker creation tab doesn’t exist. Like the Rambler switch, that Pixel Studio removal hasn’t rolled out yet, but the internal work is there.

An APK teardown is being used here to look at work-in-progress code—an approach that can help predict features that may arrive later on a service. Still, it comes with a clear warning: predicted features might not make it to a public release.

So for now, Gboard users get a preview of the control—Rambler can be toggled in the beta—while Pixel Studio’s disappearance is already being quietly staged behind the scenes, even if it’s not fully visible in the live interface yet.

  1. Wait so it’s gonna magically delete my “um” and “like”? That’s kinda creepy lol

  2. I don’t even use voice typing but of course they’re adding toggles. Next they’ll toggle what I’m allowed to say. Also Pixel Studio is gone??

  3. So Rambler is basically auto-editing my thoughts while I talk? That sounds like it’ll mess up stuff if you actually pause. And the Pixel Studio tab missing already… does that mean it’s already removed for everyone or just some beta people?

  4. Google’s always phasing things out and naming the replacements something random. Nano Banana? Like c’mon. I swear this is just them moving stickers around, not improving anything. Also why is it “Rambler” like the office? I’m confused, but I’ll probably get it anyway because I can’t type without voice on
