By the time Taylor Parker is describing the moment she hit Reagan Simmons-Hancock in the head with a mason jar, the room is already grim with what investigators wanted to know.
In video taken from a Bowie County court and later obtained. Parker lays out a version of the confrontation that she says began in violence and ended with a dire. makeshift medical effort while she was being questioned about Reagan’s murder. The footage is dated just days after Reagan was killed in 2020.
Parker’s account hinges on what she claims Reagan told her—repeatedly, and in a state of panic. She told investigators that Reagan was screaming at her to “take her out of me” while Parker was performing what she described as a makeshift C-section.
Parker says she only remembers “hitting Reagan in the head with a mason jar” before the situation escalated. From there, she describes telling Reagan she didn’t know how to get to the baby. Parker says Reagan’s only response was: “Get her out of me!”
The story Parker presents is not confined to words. She told cops the two women went at each other. shoving and fighting. and that she then cut about six inches on her midsection. She later claimed that Reagan took the scalpel from her and cut even further—before Parker says she began pushing “a sack” that she claims was coming out of Reagan’s stomach.
Parker also brought in a third presence: Kynlee, Reagan’s three-year-old daughter. Parker told investigators Kynlee was there for the horrific situation and claimed Reagan yelled out to her daughter during the alleged procedure.
Prosecutors, however, were not persuaded by Parker’s account. They were convinced Parker faked her own pregnancy and then cut Reagan’s unborn baby out of her, attempting to pass it off as her own.
Parker was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to death. She currently awaits her execution date, described in the case coverage as the youngest woman on death row in Texas.
