Krispy Kreme is facing a fast-approaching deadline for consumers to file claims in a $1.6 million settlement tied to a data breach reported in November 2024. Class members have until June 22 to apply for potential payouts, while June 6 is the cutoff to exclude
A lot can change in a month, but for people worried about identity theft, the calendar moves faster than they’d like. Krispy Kreme class members have until June 22 to file a claim in the doughnut chain’s $1.6 million settlement tied to a data breach reported in November 2024.
The class-action lawsuit behind the settlement alleged Krispy Kreme failed to prevent the breach. It said private information—including names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and financial account access information—was leaked. Krispy Kreme has denied any wrongdoing or liability.
The settlement website says an individual is included in the class if they live in the United States and received a notice stating their private information may have been impacted.
The deadlines are tight. Consumers who want to be eligible for a payout must submit a claim by June 22. Those who want to exclude themselves from the settlement—or object to it—have until June 6.
For qualifying class members, the potential benefits start with cash. The settlement website states that all class members can receive a $75 cash payment. That amount could change depending on how many claims are filed.
People with documented losses may be eligible for more. Class members who can show losses can seek reimbursement of up to $3,500 for fraud, identity theft, and other losses. The settlement says proof must be included on the claim form, including receipts, emails, or phone records.
Even if someone doesn’t file a claim, the settlement includes a form of protection. Class members who do not submit a claim will still receive access to one year of credit monitoring. The settlement website also says class members should have received an activation code on their postcard notice.
Filing a claim can be done two ways: online through the Krispy Kreme settlement website or by mailing a completed claim form to the settlement administrator at the address listed on the form. Claim forms are also available by calling 877-239-1879. Consumers with questions or who need additional information can use the settlement website’s FAQ page.
The sequence is straightforward. even if the subject isn’t: June 6 governs whether people opt out or challenge the settlement. while June 22 controls whether they get a chance at a payout. For many class members. the difference between those dates can be the difference between paperwork filed in time—or weeks of waiting after a security incident that already reshaped what their personal information means in daily life.
