Knicks Game 5: Outdoor watch parties lock in

Knicks Game – With the Knicks leading the series 3-1, Game 5 watch parties are set for Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall—plus free screenings in Central Park and Rockfeller Park—while NYPD security guidance comes amid a busy day around Manhattan.
By 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, the streets around Madison Square Garden will already feel different—not because the scoreboard is the only thing people are watching, but because the crowd is arriving in waves.
The Knicks announced watch parties for Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals. At Madison Square Garden. the event outside the arena will allow a maximum of 3. 000 ticketed fans inside the NYPD “frozen zone.” Entry is restricted to ticketed watch party fans only. They must go through security and be in place at Plaza33 no later than 8:30 p.m. to be allowed into the Plaza33 watch party.
Radio City Music Hall is also part of the plan. Fans attending there can watch the game on large screens inside the venue among other fans, and tickets are required. Tickets are $10 each. with proceeds benefiting the Garden of Dreams Foundation. which works closely with the MSG Family of Companies to bring life-changing opportunities to young people in need year-round.
For those looking for something less ticketed, another free watch party is scheduled at Wollman Rink in Central Park.
And there will be a free outdoor screening of Game 5 in Rockfeller Park. The Battery Park City Authority will host it, and people are instructed to enter at Warren Street or Murray Street, off River Terrace.
The timing of it all matters because the Knicks aren’t just planning events—they’re planning them under heightened attention. The NYPD released security guidance Saturday afternoon for an unusually busy day around Madison Square Garden. driven by the convergence of the watch party crowds. World Cup travelers. and a 5 Seconds to Mars concert.
That day’s stakes are clear in the series score. The Knicks are leading the series 3-1 and can close out the Spurs in San Antonio on Saturday night.
But the past few days are still in people’s minds. The series could easily be tied right now after San Antonio wasted a 29-point lead in Game 4, a game that ended with the biggest collapse and the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history.
Knicks coach Mike Brown spoke about what this moment demands. “You have to be present,” he said Friday. “You can’t think about the outcome. It’s about the process, the next play, the next play, the next play.”
Game 5 tips off at 8:30 p.m., and viewers can watch the game on ABC 7, with pre-game coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m.
