Then, inside the stadium, the gestures became personal. Arrow was announced as part of the squad, given the honorary 23 shirt and a place in the locker room. Rabbitohs players warmed up wearing shirts bearing Arrow’s name and his club number 1166 on their back.

The emotional impact was immediate. Arrow was visibly moved to tears as he was handed the Legacy Bell and rang it ahead of South Sydney’s clash with Brisbane. Fans rose for a standing ovation. and both sides provided a guard of honour—an atmosphere that left Arrow shaken as he took the moment in. while carrying his young daughter.
