Fans are asked to stop the booing—here’s why

The main rule seems to be to drop to the ground as if you’d been shot by a sniper, roll around grimacing and holding whatever body part received the invisible bullet, then peek with a sly glance to see if anyone is buying what you are selling. The second rule is to miraculously jump to your feet to get into the next play. Unless your name is Ismaël Koné, shame on you. Grow up and play the game professionally, and stop the theatrics; it’s demeaning.

JUDY WARREN QUIT ON SENS LONG TIME AGO Let’s get serious. Brady Tkachuk had no intention of staying in Ottawa after he came back from the Olympics. Even after the 4 Nations Cup. After both those tournaments he was a different player. Yes, sure, he gave some spark, but not the same intensity as before. Brady can play the “it was time for the next chapter” card all he wants, but, sorry, it doesn’t wash. Brady Tkachuk quit on the Senators a long time ago.

Fans shouldn’t think anything different. MONCTON, N.B. MOST WOULD DO WHAT BRADY DID It wasn’t difficult to see that Brady Tkachuk wanted out. He was not happy about being booed after the Olympics, and the family is very tight and dyed red, white and blue. Tax implications, nice weather, less responsibility … I think most of us would do the same thing, especially when you have a family to support. I won’t be cheering for him, but I won’t be booing him, either. LARRY MACDONALD

  1. This is dumb. Fans boo because they paid money, not because some columnist said “drop to the ground.” Also Brady totally planned to leave anyway, he looked over it.

  2. I think the “invisible bullet” thing is kinda funny but also like… isn’t that just hockey? Jumping up after acting hurt is literally the sport. And Ismaël Koné sounds like the only one allowed to do it? Who decides that, lol.

  3. They’re acting like Brady quit because of boos, but maybe he quit because of the Olympics schedule or taxes or whatever. I read “different player” and assumed it was injuries. Honestly I don’t even watch much, I just hear everyone talking about it and it feels like Ottawa always blames the fans or the player, never the coach.
