Body found in South Carolina identified as Elena Moore

Authorities in South Carolina confirmed Friday that a body found earlier this week is that of Elena Moore, who vanished June 11. The cause and manner of death for Moore, 39, were not immediately available. The Lexington County Coroner’s Office said an autopsy was planned for Saturday and additional information will be released Monday. Moore’s body was found Wednesday afternoon near a gym that she was seen leaving on June 11 in Lexington, a city of roughly 23,000 west of Columbia, authorities said. A preliminary
match was made based on a clothing description, Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green told reporters. He attributed the discovery of her body to a tip prompted by news coverage. Green declined to say whether foul play was suspected in her disappearance. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is leading the death investigation. A department spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday night.
