Heather Rae El Moussa didn’t try to dress up the feeling. On Tuesday, June 9, she posted that she and Tarek El Moussa felt “violated” and “really sad” after their Newport Beach, California, home was broken into while they were away.
In a since-expired Instagram stories message, the reality-TV personality — 38 — wrote, “Disgusted by some of the cruel, heartless people in this world.” She added, “Tarek and I feel violated and, to be honest, really sad.”
The incident was first reported earlier this week after police were called to the couple’s home on Monday afternoon, following alerts about a burglary at the Southern California residence. The couple was on vacation when the break-in occurred.
Afterward, Heather provided only a brief update about her family’s wellbeing. “Taking a break for a few days and will [be] back to explain soon,” she wrote, before confirming, “We are safe, [and] the kids are safe.”
Newport Beach Police and representatives for Heather Rae and Tarek El Moussa were contacted for comment.
Beyond the emotional post, the public details also point to a household that includes multiple children. Heather and Tarek have costarred together on HGTV projects including “Flipping 101 with Tarek El Moussa. ” “Tarek’s Flip Side. ” “The Flipping El Moussas” and “The Flip Off.” They’ve been married since October 2021. In January 2023, they welcomed their first child, a son named Tristan.
Tarek is also father to daughter Taylor, 15, and son Brayden, 10, from his previous marriage to fellow HGTV host Christina Haack.
A separate, earlier legal matter has also been in the public eye for Tarek El Moussa. Police confirmed he was cited for battery after a physical altercation during a family trip to Las Vegas.
