Eagles unveil OC Sean Mannion’s evolving offensive blend
Eagles unveil – Sean Mannion was hired by the Eagles after the offense failed to impress in 2025, and at a Thursday press conference he described a plan that blends what he believes in with what the Eagles have done well—designed to maximize players’ strengths and give Jalen
The moment Sean Mannion took the podium, the message was clear: whatever the Eagles build on offense next, it won’t be a one-size-fits-all rehash of the past. It will change. It will adapt. And it will be designed around getting the most out of the players—especially Jalen Hurts.
The Eagles hired Mannion as offensive coordinator after they failed to impress on that side of the ball in 2025. His plans for the coming season became the focus of a Thursday press conference. where he laid out how he’s approaching the job with only two years of NFL coaching experience—both of them under Matt LaFleur with the Packers.
Asked whether his scheme will resemble what he picked up there. or if it will lean on what the Eagles have done well in the past. Mannion didn’t sound interested in locking himself into one identity. “Obviously there’s things I believe in, and there’s things that schematicaly I have a background in,” he said. “But, ultimately, it’s going to be a blend. t’s constantly going to evolve and it’s all with that exact goal in mind. It’s about maximizing things for the players. How do we make the Eagles the best team we can be. and how to make the Eagles offense the best it can be. and how do we put all of our players in a position to really succeed and maximize their strengths.”.
That emphasis on evolving plans matters because it puts the centerpiece of the offense—Hurts—right at the center of the design process. Mannion said there will be “some degree of connection” to the things Hurts is most comfortable doing. The point. as he described it. is to create a system that gives Hurts room to thrive rather than one that forces him into unfamiliar lanes.
Hurts is no stranger to new offensive coordinators, and Mannion’s fit with what the Eagles already have—what works, what doesn’t, and what Hurts can quickly command—will shape how the team feels by the end of the 2026 season.
