Brundle shoves back after Monaco grid walk incident

Brundle’s shove-back – Martin Brundle faced an awkward moment during his Monaco Grand Prix grid walk after a man allegedly tried to shove him out of the way. Brundle cut him down on the spot with a sarcastic line, then went on to highlight another tense encounter later when Kim Kard

Martin Brundle was only a few steps into his Monaco Grand Prix grid walk when the atmosphere turned physical.

During the chaotic pre-race scene at the Principality, a pushy intruder allegedly tried to shove him aside. Brundle stopped short, turned the moment into a warning, and fired off a line that landed with bite: “Don’t push me mate, I’m nearly famous.”

It was vintage grid-walk Brundle—part theatre. part frustration—as he checked the behaviour and then continued with his broadcast while hundreds of people crowded the tight space under the French Riviera sun. The incident fed into a wider frustration fans have voiced for years: that an increasing number of people with limited interest in Formula 1 are being granted access to the grid largely to feed social media.

Brundle didn’t stop there. Earlier in the same busy day, he also addressed a separate awkward moment involving Kim Kardashian—who has been linked romantically to Lewis Hamilton.

Brundle approached Kardashian, introduced himself, and asked, “How are you today?” The 45-year-old did not reply. She had clearly seen Brundle and the Sky Sports crew, but offered no acknowledgement. Brundle pressed on. saying normally people have a quick chat with them and asking. “Are you enjoying Formula 1?” Kardashian responded with a dismissive tip of her head—followed by a wall of silence. though she did also smile. Her security team then stepped in and blocked Brundle off.

Brundle’s run of grid encounters often leans on sarcasm to deal with what he sees as an increasingly rude mix of visitors. On Sunday, Max Verstappen’s arrival briefly changed the mood: despite being much busier, Verstappen managed to stop for a quick word.

This is not the first time Brundle has questioned the intentions of some grid guests. In 2021. Autosport reported that while celebrities on the grid are not required to give interviews to the media. they will be asked to be courteous should they decline to speak. Brundle has made the same point in plain terms before. telling The Sun: “I like to call out some of the celebs that I think are just using the grid a little bit if I’m honest. They don’t really have a passion. I know there are millions of fans at home going: ‘I should be on that grid. I’m a massive Formula 1 fan, not them.’”.

Sunday’s Monaco grid brought both extremes of that debate to the surface. One moment. Brundle drew a hard line after a shove; the next. he was met with silence from a celebrity he approached politely—before being blocked for insisting on a basic interaction. In a space where the sport and the spectacle collide shoulder-to-shoulder. it was the lack of respect that drew the sharpest reaction.
