Robbery suspect killed in LAPD shooting; 405 shut

An armed robbery at a Los Angeles 7-Eleven early Friday ended in a police chase and a deadly shooting by the LAPD. All northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway were shut for hours as traffic was diverted and multiple ramps closed.
The northbound 405 Freeway ground to a halt Friday morning after an armed robbery at a Los Angeles 7-Eleven set off a police chase that ended with an LAPD shooting.
The incident began around 4:15 a.m. near Manchester Avenue and Airport Boulevard, when an armed man allegedly assaulted another person with a gun inside the 7-Eleven store and stole the victim’s glasses. The victim called 911 and provided location information to police.
Police caught up with the suspect after the call. According to the LAPD, the man refused to get out of the car, prompting officers to follow him onto the northbound 405.
During the chase, the suspect allegedly fired at officers. Officers returned fire, and the man was killed, the LAPD said. The man was hospitalized and later died of his injuries. No officers were injured.
By late morning, the impact of the shooting was still being felt on the freeway. Authorities shut down all northbound 405 lanes in Los Angeles, with traffic being diverted off at Howard Hughes Parkway. Onramps at Sepulveda and La Tijera boulevards were closed, along with Howard Hughes Parkway.
Lanes were closed just before 5:30 a.m., and officials expected the shutdown to last six to eight hours. The chase and shooting left drivers facing long delays while police cleared the scene.

Damn 405 really gets shut down for everything.
Wait so he died AND the victim died? Or did the suspect just die and the victim lived? They said glasses got stolen and I’m like… why chase him that hard over glasses.
This is why I don’t like cops doing stuff on the freeway. Like they could’ve just blocked the exit ramps earlier instead of everybody getting stuck. Also I swear 7-Elevens always end up in a shootout in LA, it’s wild.
LAPD shoots a robbery suspect after he “refused to get out” but then he fired first right? Either way, the 405 being closed for hours because of 4:15am nonsense is ridiculous. People act like the freeway can just be turned off, like Howard Hughes Pkwy was the only way home. Also they say he was hospitalized then died, so was it the shooting that did it or the injuries later?
