Jesse Watters’ “watch her die” comment roils Newsom race talk

Fox News host Jesse Watters used graphic language about Kamala Harris during discussion of whether Gavin Newsom and Harris could face off in 2028, while also making remarks tying the conversation to Hunter Biden’s recent public profile.

Jesse Watters didn’t just criticize Kamala Harris on “The Five.” He went for something far darker, telling Gavin Newsom to “take the gloves off” and saying, “You gotta slit her throat and then just watch her die.”

The comment landed as Watters reacted to a Wall Street Journal article about the possibility that Newsom and Harris could square off in 2028. Watters’ response was animated and blunt, framing the political moment as one where civility and restraint would only play into attacks from the media.

“You gotta take the gloves off,” Watters said. “If he starts dancing around ‘cause he doesn’t wanna offend Blacks or women, that’s not gonna cut it. The media’s already gonna say you’re ‘mansplaining’ and you’re being mean. You gotta slit her throat and then just watch her die.”

Watters has made the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee a frequent target. He previously called Harris “not hot” and was reportedly making jokes that questioned her gender. In his “The Five” remarks. he returned to performance—arguing Harris “can’t perform. ” and adding. “Put her out of her misery.”.

He elaborated on why he believes Harris is politically stuck, saying, “You see, she can’t cut it. She had a shot. She’s from the past. We can’t do the Biden era anymore.”

The conversation then pivoted to Hunter Biden. who Watters said is currently experiencing “a little bit of a redemption arc.” Watters connected that arc to how Biden has detailed his past substance abuse struggles on several podcasts in recent months. after years in which Trump and his administration portrayed him as the defining image of political corruption.

But Watters made clear he wasn’t praising the person—only the shift in messaging. “But just because he did drugs and now doesn’t do drugs doesn’t excuse the fact that he’s a jerk, OK?” Watters said Friday. “He’s still kind of a jerk, but he’s likable now. He’s actually pretty witty.”

The exchange shows how Watters. long a steady presence on the rightward end of cable debate. is trying to weld a future matchup story—Newsom versus Harris in 2028—to the sharper moral and personal attacks he’s been delivering for months. In the middle of that political argument sits the same pattern: a claim about who can—or can’t—lead. followed by language that treats opponents not as rivals. but as something to be removed.

  1. I mean who cares what he said, Newsom vs Harris in 2028 is what matters. But also slitting her throat?? That’s gotta be fake outrage, right? This headline sounds like it’s trying to make him a villain.

  2. Wait so did Newsom actually tell him to say that or is it just his own opinion? The article says “take the gloves off” and then something about “watch her die” so I’m like… okay? Also the Hunter Biden “redemption arc” part is confusing because how is that connected to Kamala. Sounds like they’re just trying to link everything together.

  3. This is why I don’t watch that show. But at the same time, they keep talking about “mansplaining” like that’s the real issue… not the insane violence language. I swear half these people on TV just say anything to get clips going, then act shocked when it trends. And the Hunter Biden stuff, isn’t that just like… the media doing damage control for Democrats? Either way, it’s gross.
