On Friday, July 3, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding unfolded at Madison Square Garden in New York City—and Andy Reid was among the people noticing the details.

The Kansas City Chiefs head coach later called into CNN for an interview on Sunday, July 5, to talk through what stood out about the experience, including the moment Adam Sandler took on the officiant role. Reid didn’t mince words about the job Sandler did, describing it as “phenomenal.”

Reid focused on how Sandler managed to steer the ceremony through both humor and care. “Just how he went about bringing a little bit of humor but also some sensitivity to what was going on to. again. a lot of different types of people from a lot of different types of worlds there. bringing them all together. ” he reflected.

Then came the line Reid says really landed. Sandler told the couple, “kiss every chance you have every day. Whether you’re going to bed or going to work or. you know. wherever…go ahead and kiss her.” Reid said the simplicity of the message made it especially touching. “And I thought that was, in a simple way, in its simplest form, it really was touching that way.”.

For Reid, the advice seemed to circle back to the kind of love he believes the couple shares. “I’ve had a chance to see them grow together. and that’s the most important thing. that there’s a love there. a sincere love. and. obviously. they’re different people. from different worlds. but they’ve come together to join hands. and they’re really special together. ” he added.

Reid also weighed in on what happens next—at least from a football perspective. When asked whether the couple was off on a honeymoon and if Travis would be ready to train for the upcoming season. Reid teased. “I don’t ask a lot of questions. I just know he’ll be there for the start of training camp. and I know he’ll be in great shape and ready to go. So I know how he goes about his business. Nobody loves to play more than he does, and he’ll be revved up and be Travis Kelce.”.

The wedding itself may be the headline moment, but in Reid’s telling, Sandler’s officiating advice stayed with the people who heard it—mixing lighthearted warmth with a direct reminder to show affection every day.
