YSR Congress condemns attack on leader, cites law and order decline

YSR Congress condemned an attack on its leader Dasaratha Ramireddy, alleging deteriorating law and order and politically driven violence in Andhra Pradesh.

A brutal attack on a YSR Congress leader has triggered sharp criticism and fresh allegations of political violence across Andhra Pradesh.

Misryoum reports that the party condemned the assault on Dasaratha Ramireddy, a former Rayachoti Municipal Vice Chairman and a YSR Congress leader.. The party said the incident reflects what it describes as a worsening situation for law and order, along with violence it claims is tied to political rivalries.

YSR Congress State General Secretary Gadikota Srikanth Reddy alleged that the attackers were supporters of Minister Ram Prasad Reddy and said deadly weapons were involved.. He called the assault barbaric and undemocratic, adding that attacks on opposition leaders and party workers have increased since the coalition government assumed power.

This matters because when political violence becomes part of public life, it typically shifts attention from governance to fear, deepening mistrust between communities and institutions.

According to Misryoum, Gadikota Srikanth Reddy also accused the government of using police machinery to target opposition voices rather than addressing public issues.. He referenced what the party called a “Red Book regime,” contrasting it with constitutional governance and alleging that false cases are being filed while vulnerable groups and party workers face systematic pressure.

YSR Congress described the “Red Book” as a campaign-linked reference to a volume carried by TDP leader Nara Lokesh, which the party claims lists people who allegedly harassed TDP cadres during YSRCP rule and promised action against them.

Meanwhile, YSR Congress leader in Lok Sabha P.V.. Midhun Reddy said the attack appears to have taken place in the presence of police, calling it evidence of police failure and alleged complicity.. He claimed Ramireddy had previously complained to CI and DSP officials about threats and repeated attacks on his function hall, but no preventive steps were taken, leaving the victim with severe injuries.

Misryoum notes that the party said there is video evidence but alleged that no cases have been registered against the accused.. It demanded immediate filing of an attempt-to-murder case and strict action, while also alleging a pattern where police remain active against YSR Congress social media activists but inactive when ruling party supporters are involved in violence.

At the end, YSR Congress warned that continued inaction could erode public trust in the police system and embolden further violence, urging authorities to act quickly to restore law and order and ensure justice.

Misryoum adds that the party’s push for action underscores how closely public confidence is tied to how quickly and consistently authorities respond to allegations of politically linked attacks.
