Trump extends Europe trip after Versailles dinner invitation

Trump extends – President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he has extended his Europe visit after French President Emmanuel Macron invited him to dinner at the Palace of Versailles on Wednesday.
President Donald Trump walked through the day at the G7 summit in France with a grin that didn’t try to hide what was coming next. Speaking to reporters Tuesday, he confirmed he has extended his Europe trip after being invited to dine at the Palace of Versailles.
Trump said French President Emmanuel Macron asked him to come to the 17th-century building. on the outskirts of Paris. for dinner on Wednesday. “I’m a fan of beautiful places,” Trump told reporters. “And I was leaving in the afternoon and then the French president. who happens to be a very nice man. invited me to dinner at Versailles. And Versailles is not a gold leaf. Versailles is the real deal. And I said, I’d like to do it.”.
The announcement landed with a familiar Trump flourish: gold. Trump has long been outspoken about his taste for gold. and in the past he described modeling one of his Mar-a-Lago ballrooms after the lavish French palace. As president. he has pushed that same aesthetic into the White House. even as the building traditionally leaned more restrained in its decor.
That makeover has been visible in the Oval Office. Trump has added gold trim on the crown molding, gold embellishments to the walls, and gold fixtures on the fireplace mantle. He has also put up gold signage outside the entrance and added gold coasters bearing his name.
“There’s nothing like gold and there’s nothing like solid gold, but this beautiful office needed it,” Trump previously said.
The Versailles invitation also arrives as Trump continues broader changes to the building’s most iconic spaces. He attempted to remake other parts of the White House by demolishing the historic East Wing—an area that had been home to the first lady’s offices—to construct an ornate $400 million ballroom. He has also paved over the Rose Garden’s grass with white stone.
There’s a consistent thread running through all of it: Trump’s personal preference for display shows up not just in what he celebrates abroad. but in how he’s reshaped the architecture and surfaces he uses at home. From gold accents in the Oval Office to the expensive ballroom project and the reworked Rose Garden. the pattern is hard to miss—especially on a day when Versailles is on the calendar for Wednesday dinner.

Versailles dinner??? Sounds like a photo op for sure.
I don’t get why everybody acts surprised. Of course he’s going to extend the trip, he’s obsessed with gold everything. Like bro the G7 is happening and he’s thinking about trim and coasters.
Wait so Macron invited him to dinner at Versailles and he extended his trip… because of the building? I mean that’s kind of weird logic. Also I saw something about the White House ballroom earlier so maybe this is all tied together? Not saying it is, just feels like it.
This is what I don’t like. He’s always changing stuff at the White House, like paving over the Rose Garden and then adding more gold like the place is a casino. Then he goes to France and talks about “beautiful places” like that’s diplomacy. Versailles dinner probably won’t fix anything about trade or Ukraine or whatever else people are mad about.
