Yaya Mayweather Denies “Obsessed” Claim Over NBA YoungBoy

After a viral clip showed Yaya Mayweather singing NBA YoungBoy’s lyrics in Houston, she fired back at fans linking her to the rapper beyond music—insisting she isn’t “obsessed,” that any romance is over, and asking people to drop the narrative.

On March 25, a video posted to X lit up the timeline: Yaya Mayweather appeared to be singing one of NBA YoungBoy’s songs word-for-word inside a Houston spot, and within hours it had collected more than 515,000 views.

The clip didn’t just go viral—it sparked heat. One X user quoted the video with the message, “She love her baby daddy more than he will ever love her and it’s sickening.”

Hours later, Yaya responded directly, addressing the assumption behind the views. “No i don’t want to still be with my child’s father. no i’m not still in love with him. no i’m not obsessed that ship has sailed. ” she wrote. “So can we please let that narrative go?. i just enjoy the music like everyone else, that’s it nothing more to it. thanks for coming to my ted talk.”.

The exchange landed in the middle of an ongoing online tension between Yaya and NBA YoungBoy. especially around their son. Kentrell Jr. In recent months. she’s been on-and-off blasting him online. including a Mother’s Day post where she accused him of “playing step daddy flying a groupie h*e and her child to Paris.” She also called him a “sorry a*s b*tch. ” and claimed he wasn’t showing up for Kentrell Jr. “mentally, physically, emotionally or financially.”.

That bitterness has also played out alongside moments that give fans new fuel to speculate. Last year, Yaya reportedly attended an NBA YoungBoy concert with her mom. She’s said to have vibed to his music for years. which is exactly why the viral X clip hit a nerve—fans watching her past behavior read meaning into the present.

The conversation is still connected to last week’s social-media moment involving Jazlyn Mychelle and NBA YoungBoy. In a video, Jazlyn explained that she, her husband, and their dog were going on a 2-mile walk, saying, “We’re the parents, mom and dad.”

Even beyond the YoungBoy talk, Yaya’s timeline has shown her drawing boundaries with the people around her. Three days before her 26th birthday, she used X to warn her inner circle. In the post. she didn’t name anyone. but wrote: “Crazy how people only know how to show up when it benefits them. but when it’s time to show up and show love for my birthday suddenly nobody can be found. mind you i’m always there for people whether it’s birthdays or not. it’s really people i don’t even talk to or see on a regular showing up for me and supporting me. after my birthday i’m definitely changing my inner circle. and if you feel like this applies to you… it probably does.”.

While she’s talking about who does and doesn’t show up, there’s also a family shift on her page. Yaya’s family circle reportedly grew recently after it was revealed she has a four-year-old sister, Price Moorehead. Her father, Floyd Mayweather, had the child in 2021 with a dancer from his strip club.

Court is also part of that story. Floyd and the child’s mother have reportedly been wrapped up in court since June 2023. when the mother requested the court declare Floyd the father. The court process included allegations that he dodged court orders for a DNA test. and in March 2026 the courts declared him the father by default judgement. Since then, he’s been ordered to pay back child support and monthly support at a rate of $32,850.

For Yaya, though, the loudest headline moment right now is her insistence that the viral clip doesn’t mean what fans are saying. She says she loves NBA YoungBoy’s music—nothing more to it—and she’s asking the internet to stop connecting it to her personal life.
