Oppo’s Bubble adds MagSafe-style selfie power to phones

Oppo Bubble – Oppo has launched the Bubble in China: a 7mm-thick, 27.5g magnetic add-on with a circular AMOLED rear display that turns compatible phones into a wireless preview and creative media screen—priced at 499 yuan.
For anyone who has ever crouched over a camera app. trying to guess framing through a rear lens. Oppo’s newest accessory is aimed right at that frustration. The company has just launched a compact gadget in China called the Oppo Bubble—a small. magnetic circular display that sticks to the back of supported phones and gives you a way to compose shots without guessing.
The Bubble was announced alongside the Reno 16 series, and it attaches to the back of compatible Oppo smartphones. Oppo positions it as a kind of secondary screen: not only for selfies, but also as a playful display add-on. Once it’s connected, it can show static wallpapers, live photos, videos, emojis, decorative themes, and carousel-style media playback.
The practical part is the camera preview. When the Bubble is attached, users can preview framing, adjust angles, and trigger shots remotely. Oppo claims the Bubble supports wireless live preview from up to 10 meters away—an especially useful feature for tripod setups. group photos. and the familiar routine of setting a timer. sprinting into position. and hoping your frame is right.
Under the hood, the Bubble is built around a circular AMOLED touchscreen. Its size and flexibility are part of why it could feel familiar to the moment Apple refuses to embrace MagSafe-style phone accessories. Oppo’s pitch is that the Bubble is “small” and “light. ” and the numbers back that up: it measures about 7mm thick and weighs around 27.5 grams.
Oppo also included a 550mAh battery, and the Bubble pairs without cables. Compatible Oppo phones are able to detect it automatically when it’s brought nearby. The accessory can even be used as a standalone hanging display accessory when paired with a compatible protective case.
In China, the Oppo Bubble costs 499 yuan, or roughly $75. For compatibility, Oppo lists the Oppo Reno 16 series, Reno 15 series, Reno 14 series, Find X8 series, and Find X9 series.
It’s easy to imagine why Oppo thinks camera-focused flagships make sense with an accessory like this. With so many phones now delivering impressive rear camera performance. a small rear display that helps you frame the shot could become less of a gimmick and more of a habit—especially for vloggers. selfie lovers. and anyone who enjoys turning everyday shooting into something a little more fun.

So it’s basically a selfie screen stuck on the back? Cool I guess.
Apple really missed a trick with this MagSafe thing 😂 Now every phone company is gonna do it. 10 meters away though? That sounds fake but I’ll believe it if it helps people take pics.
Wait why is it called MagSafe style if it’s Oppo lol. Also I don’t get the point of adding a whole rear screen when the front camera exists? Like are they trying to make you turn the phone around mid-shot? My brain hurts.
499 yuan is like $75 right, not bad. But only for certain Oppo phones… so basically only Oppo people get to have the fun. I can see vloggers using it for framing, like the old days where you’d run over to the tripod and pray your shot is right. Also “hanging display accessory” sounds cool but knowing cases, it’ll probably fall off if you bump it.
