Wyndham Clark tees last as U.S. Open cuts tighten

2026 U.S. – Saturday’s third round at Shinnecock Hills gets underway after Friday’s second-round finish and cut, with Wyndham Clark and Matt Fitzpatrick set to tee off last at 3:45 p.m. ET and Dylan Wu and Jacob Bridgeman starting at 9:00 a.m. ET.

By the time Saturday arrives at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, the U.S. Open’s field will be pared down to the players still standing after Friday’s second round.

All players have to finish Friday’s round before Saturday tee times for the 2026 U.S. Open can be set. Once the second round is complete, the cut will be made, with about half the field heading home early. The survivors then continue for the U.S. Open trophy over the final two rounds.

The schedule locked in for Saturday’s third round reflects that pressure. Tee times will be arranged in pairings starting off the 1st tee, and the later start times will belong to the top of the leaderboard. Those at the bottom after the cut will begin first Saturday morning.

The order also lines up with the way the U.S. Open has been run before. Last year, J.J. Spaun and Sam Burns teed off in the final pairing at 3:35 p.m. ET, while the first pairing opened at 9:12 a.m. ET. Based on that precedent, Saturday’s tee times this year are expected to fall between about 8:30 a.m. ET and 4 p.m. ET.

Wyndham Clark, the leader, and Matt Fitzpatrick will play together in the final pairing, teeing off at 3:45 p.m. ET. The opening group of the day has Dylan Wu and Jacob Bridgeman starting at 9:00 a.m. ET.

The third round also comes with a tight viewing schedule. The coverage window for Saturday starts with 10 a.m.-12 p.m. ET on USA, followed by 12-8 p.m. ET on NBC. Streamers can watch featured group coverage online via Peacock. USOpen.com. and the USGA App starting on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. ET, with Peacock offering a live stream of NBC’s TV coverage.

  1. Wait, they already cut people after Friday round 2? That’s wild, I thought the Open cuts were like after the weekend starts or whatever. Also 3:45 pm seems late for “last pairing” like, why not earlier?

  2. If Wyndham Clark is “the leader” shouldn’t he tee off first not last? Sounds backwards to me. Maybe last just means he’s being punished lol. I don’t follow golf that close but the timing part confused me.

  3. Every year it’s the same thing with the schedule, then everybody’s yelling at the TV like it’s new. USA 10-12 and NBC 12-8… ok but what about Peacock? Also Shinnecock Hills makes it sound like a beach, not a course, so I’m just assuming it’s gonna be packed and loud.
