Wembanyama says Knicks’ physicality threw him off in Game 2
Wembanyama in – Charles Barkley described Victor Wembanyama as “in shock” after the first half of Game 2 of the 2026 NBA Finals, when the visiting New York Knicks led 56-52 and Karl-Anthony Towns fueled the run with 17 points before halftime. The update comes alongside remark
By halftime of Game 2, Victor Wembanyama looked like he couldn’t quite find his rhythm.
Charles Barkley said the San Antonio Spurs superstar was “in shock” after the first half of the 2026 NBA Finals, as the visiting New York Knicks built a 56-52 lead after 24 minutes. Wembanyama’s stat line reflected the disruption: he had 7 points on 2-for-4 shooting, along with 5 rebounds.
Barkley pointed to what the Knicks were doing. describing the effect of their style and the physicality Karl-Anthony Towns and New York brought in the first half. Towns. in particular. pushed the pace offensively before the horn—scoring 17 points prior to halftime. including a trio of key three-pointers.
The contrast was stark. While Wembanyama struggled to get into his usual flow, Towns took over enough to keep the Knicks ahead as the game tightened.
That physical, aggressive approach also carried momentum beyond Game 2. Barkley said he went back to his high school days to recall a time when he was unexpectedly dominated by another player—and that feeling, he said, was what the situation looked like for Wembanyama at that moment.
President Trump’s comments added to the backdrop around the Finals. He said he plans to attend NBA Finals Game 3. When asked about high ticket prices, he replied, “that’s the way life is, you know?”

So basically the Knicks were just fouling him a lot, got it.
Barkley saying he was “in shock” after the first half… okay but Wemby still should’ve adjusted? 2-for-4 sounds rough though. And the Knicks had Towns going off before halftime.
I don’t know why people act like physicality is some secret. If Towns is scoring 17 before the horn then yeah the other guy gets rattled. Also Trump saying he’ll go to Game 3 like that’s gonna make tickets cheaper?? “That’s the way life is” was cold lol.
Wait, I thought Wembanyama was on the Suns? Or is that a different Finals? Either way, if he had 5 rebounds and only 7 points it’s like he’s getting blocked by the refs or something. Knicks physicality threw him off, sure, but also I swear the Spurs always start slow and then it’s “adjustments” in the 2nd half.
