Vance Says DOJ Investigates Ilhan Omar Over Fraud

DOJ investigation – Vice President J.D. Vance says the Department of Justice is reviewing Rep. Ilhan Omar after Vance previously alleged she “definitely committed immigration fraud,” pointing to what he calls “something fishy” about her marital status as the dispute between the t
Vice President J.D. Vance walked into the White House’s James S. Brady Press Briefing Room and the question came fast: why did he say Rep. Ilhan Omar “definitely committed immigration fraud against the United States of America”?
For Vance, the answer didn’t come with any soft landing. He said the Justice Department is reviewing the situation, while stressing he doesn’t want to “prejudge” what happens next. Still, he added that he feels there’s “something fishy” going on—especially when it comes to Omar’s marital status.
Vance and others in the administration have advanced a conspiracy theory that Omar married her own brother. In his remarks, Vance framed the investigation around whether the DOJ finds evidence that would justify prosecution. “The Justice Department will determine if Omar ultimately committed a crime and if there’s enough evidence to prosecute. ” Vance said. adding that if there is. “they’ll go after her.”.
The relationship between Omar and the Trump administration is already combustible. Omar is no friend of the president, and the two have repeatedly clashed—over immigration policy and, at times, in personal terms. Last year, Trump called on her to “get the hell out” of the country.
Omar has fired back in kind. She has called Trump a “criminal” and “liar,” and she has also decried the United States’ recent campaign against Iran. Even so, she gave Trump some unexpected credit after he got marijuana reclassified from a Schedule I drug to a much lower designation of Schedule III.
Taken together, the remarks landing on Omar’s doorstep today signal that the public fight is only tightening. If Omar’s next move matches her previous responses, the controversy isn’t likely to cool off after a DOJ review begins.
Omar has not yet responded to Vance’s comments—but the expectation is clear: once she does, fireworks are likely.

DOJ investigating is crazy, like how is this even legal to claim “definitely” and then look later.
I feel like this is just politics dressed up as “fraud.” Also the whole thing about her marital status sounds like they’re reaching for a gotcha. Not saying anything should be ignored, but this is definitely gonna be a circus.
Wait so they’re investigating her because she married her brother??? I thought that was just online rumor stuff. If it’s real, sure investigate, but if it’s not, then why are they dragging DOJ into it over a rumor? Also, how does “marriage” even equal immigration fraud like what part is the proof
Vance always talks like he has receipts, but then says “don’t prejudge” like that’s supposed to make it better. The article says they’ll go after her if there’s enough evidence, but it already sounds like they decided the outcome. And Trump calling her to leave the country… come on. Honestly I’m more confused about the marijuana schedule thing like why is that even in the same story.
