Utah AMBER Alert issued for missing Richman toddlers

Utah AMBER – Two toddlers in Saratoga Springs, Utah—Will Richman, 22 months, and Wesley Richman, 10 months—were reported missing and facing “imminent danger of serious bodily harm or death” after an alleged custody-exchange failure by their father, Dane Stephen Richman.

Two toddlers were last seen in Saratoga Springs, Utah, and an AMBER Alert was issued Saturday after police warned they face “imminent danger of serious bodily harm or death.”

The alert, issued on Saturday, May 16, by the Utah Department of Public Safety, names two missing boys: Will Richman, 22 months, and Wesley Richman, 10 months. Their father, Dane Stephen Richman, has been identified as a suspect.

The AMBER Alert described Richman as “seriously depressed,” and said he was under financial stress. It states he had been selling his possessions and had abandoned his home.

The chain of events began earlier in the week. The boys’ mother contacted police on Thursday to request a welfare check. after Dane Richman missed a court-related deposition in an ongoing custody case. On Saturday. the mother contacted police again when the children were supposed to be returned in a custody exchange and no one showed up.

That second call triggered the AMBER Alert.

The case is developing. More information is expected as law enforcement continues to search for the children and investigate what led to the missed exchange.

  1. So the dad was “seriously depressed” and was selling stuff?? That’s scary but also like… why wasn’t this handled way earlier in court? Feels like paperwork failure.

  2. Wait I thought AMBER Alerts were for kidnappings by strangers not family custody stuff. Like did the mom not show too or something? The timeline is messy in that article.

  3. “Selling his possessions” and “abandoned his home” sounds like he was planning to disappear, but then it says he missed a court deposition first… so is this really about the exchange or just the court case drama catching up? I’m not saying it’s not serious, just confused why it took another call Saturday to flip the switch. Hope they find both boys like yesterday.
