By the time the NCAA announced the 2026 baseball tournament’s regional host locations on Sunday. May 24. the message landed with an edge: the home regionals are set. and Arkansas is not among the top 16.

The NCAA’s announcement comes a day before seedings are due to be revealed on May 25 for the 64-team bracket. Even without the full seeding list yet, hosting the regional effectively locks in the top 16 ranked teams—at least in terms of who gets the home-field advantage.

The SEC led the conference hosting count with seven teams earning regional sites at home. The Big Ten and the ACC each placed three teams among the hosts, the Big 12 had two, and the Sun Belt had one.

The top eight teams will also host the super regional round, if they win their home regional. If a team falls in its regional, the super regional moves to the better-seeded team.

Arkansas, which reached the SEC tournament championship game, was left out of the top 16 seeds. The Razorbacks ranked No. 21 in RPI and posted a 16-12 record against Quad 1 opponents during the season. Their year did not end quietly: Arkansas finished with wins over Tennessee, Texas and Auburn in the conference tournament.
