After missing all of preseason with an injury, Christian Pulisic has returned to training with AC Milan.

The American forward took part in the first portion of team training on Tuesday, Aug. 18, increasing the chance he could play a part in Milan’s Serie A opener at Torino on Sunday, Aug. 23.

Pulisic has been sidelined since he suffered a bone bruise and microfracture in his right tibia and fibula during the U.S. men’s national team’s loss to Belgium in the World Cup round of 16.

The 27-year-old attempted to play through the injury in the second half of the defeat, but had to be removed from the game.

After the match, Pulisic said he’d “twisted my ankle and my knee in one play.”

Pulisic is looking to bounce back with Milan in 2026-27 after a frustrating second half of last season.

The forward scored 10 times in all competitions for Milan last campaign, but didn’t manage a single goal after the calendar turned to 2026.

Pulisic didn’t make the impact he would have liked at a World Cup on home soil, battling through a calf injury before suffering a second injury against Belgium. He failed to score in four appearances, notching one assist.

“With one earlier and then another injury now, it just sucked. It was tough. It was difficult for me to deal with,” Pulisic said after the loss to Belgium.

“I didn’t quite have the moments I was hoping to and to try to help us to really push and get over this next step of beating a really good team,” he added.

“I’m disappointed with myself, of course, but I’m going to try to stay positive. I did a lot of good things and the team did as well.”
