Unresponsive boy pulled from Andover pond Tuesday

Andover police say first responders pulled a reportedly unresponsive boy from Field Pond in Harold Parker State Forest Tuesday afternoon and transported him to Lawrence General Hospital before a medflight to a Boston hospital. His condition had not been update
Tuesday afternoon, the call came in with a grim detail: a boy was reported unresponsive and still submerged in an Andover pond.
First responders were dispatched to Field Pond in Harold Parker State Forest at about 4:30 p.m., Andover police said in a release. When they arrived at the shoreline, “several male juveniles” were on the opposite shore yelling to direct them to where the boy was last seen before going under water.
Police said the first responders used a paddle board and flotation devices to enter the water. They located the boy near where he had last been observed—about 25 feet from shore—submerged in roughly 10 to 12 feet of water.
Life-saving measures began immediately on the paddle board. The boy was then taken by ambulance to Lawrence General Hospital before being medflighted to a Boston hospital.
As of Wednesday morning, there was no update on the boy’s condition, and police said the incident remained under investigation.

This is so sad. Why was he even in the pond?
They say he was submerged like 10-12 feet?? That seems like a long time. I hope they update his condition soon.
Wait so they pulled him with a paddle board… but he was still on the opposite shore yelling? I’m confused how a bunch of boys were yelling if they couldn’t see where he went. Sounds like chaos.
Medflight to Boston makes it sound bad. Also Andover always has those ponds right? Like maybe somebody needs to put up more signs or lifeguards or whatever. This is the type of thing that happens when people think it’s shallow.
