UK deputy ambassador to US leaves role suddenly

James Roscoe, the United Kingdom’s deputy ambassador to the United States, has abruptly left his role in Washington, D.C., after reports said he was sacked amid questions over a leak involving National Security Council discussions.

James Roscoe walked out of his post in Washington, D.C., and the suddenness has left British officials and diplomats to sift through a growing tangle of unanswered questions.

Roscoe. who served as the deputy head of the British Embassy in Washington. D.C. abruptly left his role. according to reports. The Times reported that he was sacked. The Guardian published a statement from a Foreign Office spokesperson saying: “James Roscoe has left his post.” No reason was provided. and it is not confirmed whether Roscoe was dismissed or whether he left voluntarily.

The timing has intensified scrutiny around an investigation into the leak of confidential discussions at a meeting of the National Security Council, an issue that has put Roscoe’s name at the center of questions, according to the report described.

Roscoe’s position inside the diplomatic service was among the most senior in Britain’s U.S. mission. He had also served as acting ambassador for several months after the dismissal last year of Peter Mandelson. the former U.K. ambassador. Mandelson was removed over his links to pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Before Roscoe’s departure, he was widely viewed as a leading contender for the permanent ambassador role. That post ultimately went to another diplomat, Sir Christian Turner.

  1. So was he fired or did he rage quit? The article says no reason, but of course everyone already has a theory. Leaks are always coming from someone close, right?

  2. Wait, this is about the National Security Council leak meeting and he gets blamed?? But I read somewhere that it’s actually because of Epstein links or whatever. Not sure how all that connects though, like Mandelson being involved means Roscoe too? Kinda seems like they’re just tying knots.

  3. How is “has left his post” supposed to explain anything? If he was a contender for ambassador then that’s a huge fall out of nowhere. Also acting ambassador after Mandelson was dismissed… and then suddenly a leak investigation gets spicy and they’re like, nope, no reason. Meanwhile Christian Turner gets the job and everybody pretends it’s normal.
