Trump says allies stopped Iran strike by calling

Outside the White House on Tuesday, President Donald Trump described a near-moment of decision that left little room for doubt—and even less room for comfort.
He told reporters he was “an hour away” from attacking Iran this week until his Gulf allies persuaded him to delay. “We were all set to go. You’re talking about yesterday?. We were going to be striking very – it would have been happening right now,” Trump said during a press conference. “Yeah, it was all done. The boats, the ships were all loaded. They were all loaded to the brim and we were all set to start.”.
A reporter pressed him on how long those allies—Saudi Arabia. the United Arab Emirates and Qatar—had known about his plans to strike again. Trump’s answer was blunt: “They knew I was getting ready to attack. I didn’t tell them. I never tell anybody when. I never tell anybody when, but they knew that we were very close. I would say I was an hour away from making the decision to go today. and we would probably not be talking about a beautiful ballroom today. we’d be talking about that.”.
Trump said the change came not from a new U.S. rationale publicly offered in the moment, but from calls from the leaders of those countries. “They said, ‘Sir, could you give us a couple more days because we think they’re being reasonable,’” he said.
His account immediately echoed the framing he used the day before. On Monday. Trump wrote on Truth Social that he had been asked to hold off on what he called a planned military attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran that was “scheduled for tomorrow.” In that post. he named the Emir of Qatar. Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani; the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud; and the President of the United Arab Emirates. Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Trump said those leaders asked him to delay because “serious negotiations are now taking place” and, in their view, “a Deal will be made,” one that would be “very acceptable to the United States of America, as well as all Countries in the Middle East, and beyond.”
The president’s Tuesday remarks landed on a timeline that had already shown sharp tonal swings aimed at Iran. On Sunday, Trump posted words he described as a direct ultimatum. “For Iran. the Clock is Ticking. and they better get moving. FAST. or there won’t be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!” he wrote.
Taken together. the sequence is stark: a Sunday warning followed by preparations that Trump says were fully underway. then a delay after Gulf leaders urged him to give negotiations “a couple more days.” The president’s own description—“The boats. the ships were all loaded”—puts a concrete stamp on how close he says the operation was to moving from decision to action.
For American viewers watching from home. the practical question is simple and difficult at the same time: how does a strike that was prepared so far in advance pivot so quickly. and with such specific timing. based on calls and negotiations rather than a visibly changing policy line?. Trump’s answer. offered in real time. was that the decision point was near—and that he pulled back after those leaders asked him to.

An hour away?? Sounds made up.
So Saudi/UAE/Qatar basically controlled Trump’s buttons? That’s wild. Also “boats loaded” like this is a movie.
Wait did he mean he was an hour away from attacking like 60 minutes or an hour like “an hour ago”? because these sound contradictory. If they “knew” then why didn’t he tell them until last second? Feels like everyone’s covering for something.
I don’t get how people are okay with this. He says they were asking for “a couple more days” and then he’s talking about not having a “beautiful ballroom” like politics is just vibes. Next thing you know we’re gonna hear it was the allies fault again or Iran fault, like it always is.
