UFC fighter Allan Nascimento of Brazil died on Monday morning Aug. 3, UFC announced on social media.
Nascimento was 34.
The flyweight fighter was found unresponsive after suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep, according to the UFC.
“Despite the efforts of the responding medical team, he was pronounced deceased at the scene,’’ the UFC said in a social media post. “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Allan’s family, friends, teammates, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.’’
The UFC referred to Nascimento as “our beloved fighter.” He had an overall record of 22-7 and 4-2 in the UFC.
He had won four consecutive fights before losing his last bout, a split-decision defeat against Mitch Raposo on June 20.
Nascimento turned pro and won his first seven fights. His first loss, against a then-undefeated opponent, was only a temporary setback.
He won seven of his next eight bouts and finally made his UFC debut in 2021.
After losing that first fight, Nascimento won four in a row before losing in his final bout.
Nascimento had trained with fellow Brazilian Charles Oliveira, a former UFC lightweight champion.
