The Los Angeles Dodgers are going through their roughest stretch of the season, seeing their struggles continue with their latest loss to the Chicago Cubs on Monday night.
Los Angeles is in the middle of a dynasty period, having won back-to-back World Series titles in 2024 and 2025. They attempt to pull off a three-peat, an achievement that very few teams in all of U.S. sports can say they have pulled off.
Los Angeles boasts one of the best records in the entire league, making their case as a title contender once again. However, they are not immune to losing streaks.
Boston recently stunned Los Angeles by sweeping them in a three-game set at Dodger Stadium, a first in MLB history between these two teams. The Dodgers thought they could recover from that in their next series against Chicago, but the Cubs had other plans. This resulted in Los Angeles suffering their fourth consecutive loss this season, per reporter Bill Plunkett.
“#Dodgers have matched their longest losing streak of season, 4 in a row. Been outscored 30-15 in the losses,” Plunkett wrote.
How Dodgers played against Cubs
The Dodgers boast an elite status as one of the top squad in the majors. However, their fourth consecutive loss shows that teams can still stun them like the Cubs did.
Chicago’s offense was up to the task, starting out hot with six runs in the first three innings. Los Angeles was unable to fend off the Cubs’ attack, ultimately falling by a 10-5 score in the series opener.
Los Angeles fell to a 69-44 record on the season but still control the top spot in the NL West Division standings. They are above the Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Diego Padres at the moment.
Going through four consecutive losses, the Dodgers hope to get back to a winning form. They take on the Cubs for Game 2, which commences on Aug. 4 at 8:05 p.m. ET.
