Trump urges Iran halt as day 100 tests truce

Trump urges – On Day 100 of the war in Iran, Israel and Iran traded new strikes overnight as President Donald Trump urged both sides to “immediately stop shooting.” The fragile ceasefire remains under strain. New York’s Penn Station also saw a stabbing that left six injured
The war in Iran reached its 100th day on Monday with the ceasefire under fresh strain—right as another round of attacks carried the kind of uncertainty that makes people stop trusting quiet.
Overnight, Israel and Iran traded new strikes, and the fighting remained ongoing as of Monday morning. President Donald Trump urged both countries to “immediately stop shooting,” warning that the fighting could threaten to unravel the truce.
Iran, however, blamed the United States for the latest escalation. A foreign ministry spokesperson said “nobody believes” Israel acts without coordination from Washington, and warned the U.S. would bear responsibility for the consequences.
Iranian officials said Israeli strikes damaged a petrochemical plant in the country’s southwest and a military complex in northern Iran. At the same time. the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen claimed responsibility for an attack on what they called “sensitive Israeli targets.” The Houthis also announced a ban on Israeli ships traveling through the Red Sea. a critical global shipping route.
Israel’s military said its forces targeted truck-mounted surface-to-air missile launchers in separate strikes.
As the exchanges continued into Monday, the dispute over who is driving the conflict—from Tehran’s accusation about U.S. coordination to Washington’s push for an immediate halt—hovered over every new report of damage and every claim of responsibility.
That same sense of high-stakes unpredictability played out on a different front in the United States—this time in the heart of New York. Police launched an investigation into what triggered a stabbing at Penn Station that left six people injured.
The attack unfolded just after 7 p.m. Sunday inside one of the nation’s busiest transit hubs, beneath Madison Square Garden. Authorities said one person sustained serious injuries, while four others were hospitalized with minor to moderate wounds. Medics rushed a sixth victim to a separate hospital, though the person’s condition has not been disclosed.
Amtrak police took one suspect into custody. Officials said the person is believed to have a history of mental health issues.
The stabbing hit at a moment when Penn Station and the surrounding area were already set for major public attention. Madison Square Garden is preparing to host Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Monday, with Trump expected to attend.
For New York residents who rely on Penn Station and NJ Transit. the attack landed on top of a familiar fear. “I don’t want to say that it’s par for the course for Penn Station. but I think the chaos of this and things similar to this is sort of becoming regular. which is scary. ” said New York resident Katie Murray. “As someone who uses Penn Station and NJ Transit frequently, so it’s, it’s alarming. But the fact that when I heard the news. I was I was shocked. but not completely surprised because this isn’t the first time something like this has happened. So…”.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani condemned the attack, calling it horrific and an act of unacceptable violence. In a message posted Monday morning, the mayor wrote: “I’ve been briefed on the horrific stabbing at Penn Station. Based on the information available right now. six people were stabbed and the alleged perpetrator is in custody following a swift response from the Amtrak Police Department. My heart is with everyone who was injured,….”.
Gov. Kathy Hochul also weighed in, calling the stabbing senseless and pledging to continue efforts to make New Yorkers feel safe.
Taken together, the overnight exchanges across the Atlantic and the violence inside one of the nation’s busiest transit hubs underscored the same uncomfortable reality: whether it’s a ceasefire stretched to its limits or a city bracing for large crowds, the margin for calm can vanish quickly.

Day 100 already??
Trump said stop shooting but obviously they’re not gonna listen. Also Penn Station stabbing?? Like why is everything happening at once.
Wait so Iran is blaming the US for Israel strikes… but didn’t we already have something in place? Sounds like the truce is just a fancy word for “we’ll pause until the next thing.” And the Houthis banning ships is gonna mess with prices here too, mark my words.
I don’t get why anyone trusts a ceasefire anymore. It says Israel hit missile launchers but also Houthis are involved?? Feels like all these places are tied together somehow. And Penn Station getting stabbed on the same day is just… weird timing. Somebody needs to stop poking the bear before it spirals, but I guess that’s what everyone is doing.
