A familiar lineup is about to change for millions of viewers: NBC has quietly canceled nine shows ahead of the summer season, and the titles that didn’t make the cut are no longer showing up on the network’s summer or fall schedule.

Among the shows dropped are “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and “Stumble.” The network also directed a TV reporter to a Deadline piece announcing the cancellation of “The Hunting Party” when requested for more information on the cancellations.

Some of the news spilled out beyond NBC’s internal planning. Actors have also used social media to share that their respective series were ending, including Christopher Meloni of “Law & Order: Organized Crime.”

Jeff Bader. president of program planning strategy. addressed the churn in public remarks ahead of NBC’s upfront in May. saying the network is running on a “very tight schedule.” He added that NBC had to find “opportunities where we could grow. ” while acknowledging that shows “we love” still didn’t make the cut.

The changes reshape NBC’s summer viewing—where a slate heavy on game shows is designed to keep momentum while familiar dramas take a break. For the fall, the network is leaning into new titles and sustained renewals to fill time slots as it recalibrates its roster.

NBC’s summer schedule places some long-running programs on pause. The Voice, Chicago Fire, and Law & Order: SVU are going on a break as NBC swaps in game programming including America’s Got Talent, Password, and American Ninja Warrior.

In the fall, NBC’s new lineup includes Line of Fire, The Traitors, and Newlyweds. At the same time. the network has renewed multiple series—among them Chicago Fire Season 15; Chicago Med Season 12; Chicago P.D. Season 14; Happy’s Place Season 3; St. Denis Medical Season 3; Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Season 28; and The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins Season 2.

Bader described how scheduling decisions were made, telling Deadline that assembling the lineup was “a very traditional process.” He said the network ran pilot screenings, evaluated choices for different time periods, and selected the shows it believed best fit into the schedule it put together.

Across the next few months, the timing and placement of NBC’s shows is unmistakable: long-running hits shift into breaks, while summer slots fill with competition formats—and fall introduces new names alongside deep renewals.
