Trump shifts Freedom 250 to White House rally

Trump’s 250th – President Donald Trump says the U.S. semiquincentennial celebration will change course from the canceled “Freedom 250” concert series at the Kennedy Center to a new “rally” in Washington this month—framing it as a “rally to end all rallies” featuring Trump, a

President Donald Trump did not sound like someone retreating from a fight. On Thursday, he said the U.S. semiquincentennial celebration—marked with 250 years of American history—will now be a “rally. ” featuring a handful of musical acts and “a fine and highly dignified gentleman” he described as himself.

The announcement comes after Trump canceled his “Freedom 250” concert series at the Kennedy Center last week. The shutdown followed six cancellations out of nine musical acts scheduled to perform. The series had been billed as the “Great American State Fair. ” with names such as Vanilla Ice. Bret Michaels. and the surviving duo of Milli Vanilli among those being advertised.

There was also another front in the dispute, and Trump tied Thursday’s shift to that too. A day before his new plan, a federal judge ruled that Trump’s name must be removed from the Kennedy Center, where the president’s name had been added by his handpicked board at the center.

Trump responded with an angry post on Truth Social. writing: “Cancel it. ” and continuing that he canceled his own involvement “just like I canceled my involvement with the failing and unsafe to be in Kennedy Center. ” calling the judge “a Highly Conflicted. Crooked Federal Judge. ” and saying the judge had ruled he should not be allowed to “spend my time and money in order to MAKE THE CENTER GREAT AGAIN. actually. far greater than it ever was before!”.

On Thursday, he unveiled what he called a replacement. Later this month. Trump said. “the Great Rally. EVER” will take place in Washington. D.C. timed for Wednesday. June 24th. at 7 P.M. He framed the setting as “magnificent Washington. D.C.” and said the city is “totally beautified” and “one of the Safest Cities anywhere in the World.”.

Trump’s pitch for the new event was direct: a “Rally to end all Rallies.” He said he did not want singers with “no talent. ” and instead accused the production of being driven by “big fees to put you to sleep. ” adding he had “told them all to stay home.” He described the lineup as “All we want is you. me. a few speakers. ” plus “the Greatest Music ever played. the same Music you have listened to for years!”.

At the center of the program, Trump said, will be Lee Greenwood introducing him. He said Greenwood’s appearance would come with “what has turned out to be one of the Greatest Hits of All Time. GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.” Trump also named Christopher Macchio as a performer who will sing “Nessun Dorma. Hallelujah. Ave Maria. God Bless America. and others. ” and he compared Macchio’s voice to Luciano Pavarotti. saying: “Not since the legendary Luciano Pavarotti has there been such a voice!”.

Trump said the rally would also feature the U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” and the Armed Forces Choir. along with “The President’s Own” Unites States Marine Band and the Joint Armed Forces Chorus. He said the event would include “all of your favorite Hits. ” and again positioned himself as a headline performer. calling the event’s featured figure “President DONALD J. TRUMP!”.

The semiquincentennial changes are not limited to music. As part of the 250 festivities, Trump said the White House will serve as the venue for several UFC matches. He said a 5. 000-seat arena is being built on the White House lawn where the matches will take place on June 14. which is Trump’s 80th birthday. This week, Trump suggested he may keep the arena in place after the event.

Taken together, the timeline reads like a rapid attempt to recast a national celebration around a single set of terms—who gets to perform, where it happens, and who stands center stage—after the Kennedy Center series unraveled through cancellations and a federal court ruling.
