Tomodachi Life clones rack up 150,000 downloads

Knock-offs of Nintendo’s Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream have surged on the Google Play Store, using near-identical names and key art. Two standout fake apps have together passed 150,000 downloads, despite being rated for teens while the real game is rated E.

For a social simulation that’s only been out for a little over a month, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has already inspired copycats—blatantly—right on the Google Play Store.

The clones use identical key art and very similar title names. turning Nintendo’s island-caretaker concept into something users may not realize they’re downloading. The two most notable knock-offs have together reached more than 150. 000 downloads. signaling that plenty of people are clicking before they double-check what’s real.

Nintendo’s Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is a “silly social simulation game” where players become the caretaker of an island full of absurd moments. Nintendo’s financial report has shown the Switch title is selling well. and that momentum is now being exploited on Android. When a game draws attention that fast, imitators don’t usually wait long.

On the Play Store, one fake app—Tomodachi Life: Living Dream—has amassed over 50,000 downloads. Another, Tomodochi: Live The Dream Life, has been downloaded over 100,000 times.

The deception isn’t subtle. The apps appear to use key art ripped right off Nintendo’s store page. and the names are close enough to blur the line for anyone skimming quickly. Even the content ratings add to the confusion. The real Tomodachi Life is rated E for everyone, but the clones are rated T for teen, ages 13 and up.

Taken together, these numbers—over 150,000 downloads across the two standouts—suggest that some users are falling for the trap. The key point is simple: the real Tomodachi Life is only available on the Switch. Any “Tomodachi Life” copies appearing on the Play Store are fake.

The clock is likely already running on them. The knock-offs probably won’t stay online once Nintendo and Google take notice and move to remove them—especially with download counts rising fast enough to turn this into more than just a small scam.

  1. So it’s the same game but different rating? Like why are they even allowed on Google Play if it’s basically Nintendo art? Seems shady.

  2. Wait I thought this Tomodachi thing was already on phones, like I saw something on my cousin’s iPad that looked similar. Maybe it’s just a hacked version? Either way if it says T for teen that’s probably just Nintendo being “political” with ratings or whatever.

  3. 150k downloads is wild. I’m guessing half those are kids downloading it because the name looks right. Also wasn’t Tomodachi Life supposed to be free? Like Google should catch this faster, because once it’s on the store it’s basically on your device. Hope Nintendo nukes those apps quick.
